Default Anyone having gen v dod lifter failures??

We have done about 15 gen v swaps and so far two have had the number 7 lifter fail? Both had engines fully warmed up. One failed under 80% throttle in first gear(l86). The other failed while revving to 3k (l83). Both were cylinder 7. I drive the **** out of mine in my 1996 Tahoe. So worried these are ticking time bombs. We have done over 200 gen IV swaps and had only 1 dod lifter fail.

I'm surprised that in 200 swaps with GenIV's you've only had one go bad. The first GenIV swap I helped on had one fail about a month after being done, but the owner doesn't baby anything... Its real common in the G8 community too, so much that a lot of people take them out. Is it possible to do on a GenV?

A gen v can have dod deleted but we can not take the time to do that on every build. I just wonder if something is causing the number 7 cylinder lifter to fail.

Have you looked up any GM service bulletins to see if there is a systemic issue with these?

Default Lifter question

Haven’t fired my L83 yet so I won’t know if there are any issues for another couple of weeks but is the fix for a bad lifter as simple as changing it out or is it more involved?
