AWD Supercharged Nova From SEMA

Trying to find some more info about this ride from SEMA. Searched but couldn't find anything about this specific car although there is yet another AWD nova on the forums. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94YKnjNKreo

Yikes. That motor sits awfully high. I personally don't think its well engineered. JMHO

SHARKBITEATTACK 11-20-2017 04:21 AM

Yea I think the front diff, driveshaft, halfshafts etc. sit right underneath the oilpan

HighLiner 11-20-2017 07:12 AM

I looked at it and it appeared he was using a Bravada front axle so he could probably only get it so low.

They interviewed the builder in this video and he talks about a bunch of it:

I think the problem with this is using an SUV-based suspension and AWD system which is not really designed for performance use or car packaging, but still a very cool project.

Very interesting! The 4WD makes it unique, though I doubt it will be the wave of the future in conversions the way he thinks it will. Just my opinion, though, so you never know.

It probably actually goes through the oil pan, similar to the TBSS. You really can't mount the engine any lower. It's a nice car, even with that tall supercharged engine. The battery placement was probably a poor choice. I would have put it in the trunk.

I think the real inspiration for AWD swaps is the AWD 442 that went viral with the chained AWD burnout in his driveway. That thing is sick.

I was thinking the same thing ! That Cutlass had me thinking I could pull off a swap like that lol . Seeing it chained up in his driveway smoke coming from all 4 tires the coolest thing I have seen in a long time .

If you guys did a bunch of work to a TBSS AWD like I have...you would forget the idea most likely. Everything...and I mean everything bolts to the TBSS oil pan and you need to immediately put the PCM of NC or similar rear sump and baffle mod to that. The AWD is nice and a light weight build set up would be great too just don't think their isn't severe pain in your future doing it.

Jimbo1367 11-23-2017 11:13 AM

I just couldn't ever get over how high the engine is. Just me. Best of luck to the builder.

I don't think a lot of his setup was custom. The G-body cutlass and the S-series trucks share a lot of parts. I think he has some AWD Astro parts in there too.

Engine height = eww

79_T/A 11-24-2017 01:59 PM

Built as a pro touring car for autocross? With a trail blazer front end? Is this guy smoking meth? Buddy, that mismatched abortion of parts you put together is gonna handle like a bag of loose shit. It's just a novelty. Leave it at that.

G Atsma 11-24-2017 02:42 PM

Oh, but you gotta listen to him! This is the COMING THING! lol

79_T/A 11-24-2017 03:14 PM

Hahahaha, true G, very true. My favorite part of the video was him explaining that the car has an exoskeleton, inside the car. Hey man, exo means outside, not inside. Put the freakin crack pipe down.

Nah, the awd cutlass predates that mustang by a few years.

Jimbo1367 11-27-2017 11:02 AM

The Cutlas that's chain up outside his garage smoking all fours (youtube) was faily level. I wonder what he did to keep it so level.

Outlaw 911 11-28-2017 08:07 AM

The build of the Cutlass may but the chain burnout (Cutlass April 2015) vid of Ken (Gymkana 7 Nov 2014) looks to have been first. Based solely on the publish dates on youtube.
