LS1 Marine engine help
Does anyone know what oil pan, windage tray and oil pick-up tube is used in a 2001 Malibu LS1 marine engine? Parts were lost during an engine rebuild so I need to replace all 3. Thanks.....

Have you checked with a GM marine parts source?
Also, is Malibu a boat brand? If so they might steer you to a source for parts.
Another thing you might want to check on: Since you need the pan, windage tray and pickup, see what might fit from the automotive realm. There are many different pans, both OEM and aftermarket, that might fit. Would I be correct in saying you need a shallow sump pan to clear the bottom of the hull?

Can you help me with a GM marine parts source? Malibu is the brand of boat, Indmar is the GM marine engine conversion company. Indmar stocks parts for a while but these are no longer available through Malibu or Indmar. I was thinking the marine parts were still GM parts but since the engine is 2001 vintage, finding people that were around back then that might be familiar with this engine has proved to be very difficult. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks.....

Does Indmar still use GM LS engines? If they used LS3's the pans/windage trays/oil pickup tubes will work.

Yeah, if it is indeed an LS engine, Indmar should have parts for it as GenIV engines use the same parts you need, and are late model enough to still be around.

Yes, it is indeed an LS1. This was a rare option for Malibu boats this year. They even included a corvette emblem on the seats, corvette plastic engine cover and a closed loop cooling system.
I visited some of the sites you guys gave and found some very useful info. Looks like Indmar changed the stock oil pan to something deeper to better accommodate the turns and angles of a boat. I think the GM part number for the correct oil pan for my application is 12628771. Two more questions for the forum:
1) Did this engine have a windage tray in the oil pan? If so, any idea what the GM part number would be? Are all windage trays the same for this engine regardless of what oil pan was installed?
2) Are all of the oil pick-up tubes the same for this engine? If not, any idea what the GM part number might be for the deeper 12628771 oil pan?
Thanks.....

The pickup tube has to match the pan, and some windage trays fit more than one pan, but not all.

Marine Oil Pan = Full Length
Hi Mega, I cast a Marine Oil Pan for LS engines.
This is a "full length" design AND holds 10 quarts of Oil.
This is a design that REQUIRES a Remote Oil Filter as the -12 bosses (female) are cast into the Pan Rail.
The Pan is VERY strong adding strength to the block.
This pan has TWO drain plugs, one at each end.

I put a truck 5.3 with Z06 cam, LS1 intake, and ported TB into my '97 Ski Centurion and ran a stock Fbody pan with no additional baffling. We only changed the oil 1x a year if that. Ran strong for 6+ years without issues and it was run at full throttle for 10-15 minute intervals often (4500rpm+). In hindsight a greater capacity oil pan would be beneficial.... I had an a/w heat exchanger (oil cooler) on the boat which I'm sure helped the engine live.
Biggest issue we had was corrosion on the engine itself on the steel and aluminum parts... We did paint the block; however we should've also painted the valve covers (or clear coated them), TB, etc. Every season I had to clean them up.
We used water cooled exhaust manifolds from Marine Power.... those were the priciest part of the whole swap. We did clear coat these which helped with corrosion.

I would measure from the block pan mtg. surface to the bottom surface to see which pan you can use. If you have the room for a truck pan, it is the deepest stock pan and holds more oil.
