LS Swapped Chevelle/El Camino people - where are you hiding your PCM under the dash? Finally got a dash for my car, so now I have to figure out where I can hide my PCM. What has everyone else done? I have Vintage air, so it's looking like the passenger side area will have no room |
I am out and proud, with my PCM mounted on top of the passenger side inner wheel well, using a coolant tank from an S10 that has mounting points for a PCM bracket, in a 1979 El Camino. I ultimately want to put in Vintage Air myself, and I don't think there is room behind the dash for that and a PCM. Possibly behind the kick panel or under the seat. Or what about inside the fender, above the wheel well? |
Funny you started this post !! I just got my Holley Dominator ECU and have been scratching my head thinking about where to mount it . I have the same problem with the Vintage Air. So I am in for some good ideas . |
Also I don't think the harness let you go to the driver side . |
As "DLWilson" mentions above, my first guess for my PCM part number 09354896 is mounted to the passenger side fender well beneath the fender. But if I have the wire slack length and space at the glove box, that seems like a good place for both the PCM and the OBD II port. Rick |
used my glovebox. cut the back out of it and mounted it inside. glovebox closed no problem protected and cant be seen. |
Left inner fender behind the headlight area. I can wash the car and it doesnt get wet. I have a permanent OBD wire going into the car so you can plug in like the factory. |
I mounted mine on top of the tunnel under the dash and made a custom console that covers it up. |
After looking, I think I found a perfect place for it. On top of the glove box, under the dashpad. I’m going to make a bracket that bolts to the top of the glove box that the pcm is then bolted to. This would hide it completed and accessing it would be simple, just remove the 6 screws for dash pad and pull it out, pcm is right there.I’ll get pictures |
I have been thinking of where to put my PCM as well on my 66. I've got a Megasquirt so it needs to be inside the car. I want quick access to it so I am thinking of under the dash approx. above the throttle pedal (slightly to the center of the car under the ash tray), at enough of an angle upward that its mostly hidden but still gives quick access to the SD card, USB port, etc. I wouldn't have thought finding a good spot would be so hard given that there is open space everywhere on old A bodies! |
I've always put mine on top of the glove box. |
