Default "El Chapo" my 78 C-10 project

Been working on this C-10 project since mid March 2017. Day one, drug it out, to the tire shop for a flat repair, and home. Day two, stripped the body off the chassis so I could "chop, cut, rebuild" so it would end up much closer to Mother Earth. I bought a 2002 LS-1 hooked to a T-56 supposedly a great motor/trans. Ripped off. Opened it up one cylinder pushed out internally. Should have know when I checked the oil and fresh oil came out, not used.
Anyhow, moving on. Motor completely rebuilt and so is the T-56 (new bearings and seals anyhow). Finally got to drop it back in my pickup on Monday of this week.
Came on here today to check a few things out and figured I might as well start a thread in case any of you like pickups. Low pickups.. I have been calling my truck "Shorty" from day one, so watching a tv show on the O.G. El Chapo it stated that his nickname meant "The Shorty". Anyhow, not wanting to be super fast or anything buy I do like the added power so a B.T.R. nasty cam went in with matching springs. Had a Tick Stage 3 in my last LS and loved it. Gotta have it.
Without further ado.

Cool build, I’m in the process of installing a 5.3 in my 80 GMC C15 Heavy Half, are you using exhaust manifolds or headers? I plan on using manifolds and am unsure on frame clearance...

Nice build.

Pacesetter TBSS headers are a perfect fit for these trucks. They also tuck nicely at or inside the frame level; meaning they don't hang below the frame.

When I do a c10 swap with adjustable mounts, I measure the trans and engine mounting position. Sometimes ill use the old sbc to compare to. Doing this method allows u to install the engine sitting in the correct position as the original sbc. The original driveshaft will fit as well, and sometimes the trans crossmember fits as originally.

That's exactly the rout I was going to go. I was also going to measure my pinion angles this way also?

I think I will stick with the factory manifolds for now. even with manifolds my last ls-1 put down 359hp to the tire. very happy with the performance. exhaust cut out I open up every time I get where I'm going.

Mine is going to be at ride height at 4 inches off the pavement so I need to set my driveline angles there. gotta get it off my portable poor boy lift stands first.

Manifolds. Making plenty of power and with exhaust cutouts installed it will get plenty loud when i get where I am going.

Don't know why it posted the pics twice (probably me), or so huge.

I aslo purchased the Dingo mounts.
Thanks.

No, I had already cut out the tunnel area so i would have plenty of room for my T-56 so i pushed it back to give me as much room for radiator and electric fans as possible.

finally getting the front end stuff put on.

cheap grill in place for now. will put my cherry factory grill on later once i have time to restore it.

I love it when you can finally land something in it's permanent resting place.
