93 S10 LS Swap Getting started on swapping a 93 S10 and thought I would keep a running thread on the progress. Looking forward to using this thread to learn for myself and help others with their swaps. The truck I will be swapping is a really nice low mile truck that doesn't need any body or paint work so we'll just focus on the drivetrain side, hopefully one day we can revisit and powder coat the chassis. Here's a few pics of the truck. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...b2ec0d7c1f.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...505181a7de.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...52c3a48b3d.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...947ce365b2.jpg |
I will be using a LS3 and T56 magnum on this build https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...f9be275338.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...3c064e8bdb.jpg |
Dang, look at all of that clean. This looks Interesting, can't wait to see progress. |
Looks like the beginning of something good...I'll follow along. |
Had one just like that back in like 1991, back when they had just a little different wheel. Thats a super clean ass truck. Should be a GREAT ride! |
Following this thread . . . . Rick |
LS3/TR6060 combo is a blast in my truck, gonna be a rocketship in such a light truck. I'll be watching this build. Rock |
Nice weekend here in Ky so a lot of work in on the S10. Oil pan, mounts installed. Went ahead and bolted the trans to the engine and installed in 1 piece, probably wouldn't do it that way again. I will list the parts I'm using below for anyone wanting to use them or questions. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...ecc5c4c9b6.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...a7ead56be5.jpg Holley 302-1BK https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...a3b9d7591a.jpg Hooker Swap brackets 71221029HKR These swap brackets use a 4th Gen F-body style frame mount, available in rubber and poly from local parts store or Summit and Jegs https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...b2a5389f63.jpg Using the Hooker Swap brackets there's no need to notch the frame. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...34182beaf3.jpg This is the new Hooker S10 swap crossmember |
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...989189230d.jpg Using the Hooker swap mounts and crossmember lets the shifter work in the stock shifter location on a manual truck https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...3510f9072d.jpg We chose to use a Hurst G-body shifter, we did end up cutting about 1/4" of the floor behind the shifter just to be sure it wouldn't ever hit https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...ca8b413cdb.jpg |
Did those mounts all just bolt in |

Very clean so far, good job. Are you modifying a stock engine harness for the swap? What are your plans for the fuel system? |

Everything looks super clean. Wish these parts were available when I did my swaps. Where did you purchase the cross member from? |
I went ahead and purchased a new fuel tank and fuel pump hanger since they are so cheap. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...11e2aeaafd.jpg The tank come in a raw finish so I sent it over to the local powder coater for some silver powdercoat. Spectra GM16B3FA https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...adaad2f842.jpg using a Holley 12-914 the factor 93 hanger is plug-n-play https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...38ee292d9b.jpg I found these Earl's adapter fittings that will make adapting the AN line to the hanger super easy AT9894DBHERL AT9894DBJERL https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...43fdec3a46.jpg Complete ready to install, i did use crimp clamps over the screw clamps. I'm just not a fan of screw clamps. Earl's has packs of the clamps and can be crimped with side cutters if you don't have the correct tool. Earl's 750009ERL https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...a234b9327f.jpg |

If anyone is interested in flywheel/clutch pics or part numbers let me know and I will share. I have lots of pics so request if you like to see more. |
Yes, thanks for posting the pictures, I would like to see how the Hydraulic System for the Clutch is routed, all the way from Master to Slave, curious how it will get around exhaust. You said you are using the fuel hanger from a 93, do you know if the fuel level Sending unit will match the fuel Gauge of all 1st gens, I think they do but not 100%. Thanks |
Do you know when Holley will be releasing these parts |
Note to self: flare fittings on 93 sending unit. clamp fittings on 91 sending unit. |
