Tried searching of course everyone wants to swap the 6.0 into the 6cyl and etc I was curious what would be involved in doing the opposite. So has anyone done a 6.0 to 5.3 swap?

if you get a gen 4 5.3 its literally plug and play.

I put one in a 06 tbss from a 04 truck for a daily driver. Seems to me all I have to do is move Cam sensor . Cant remember if I had to do anything to knock sensors . But pretty minor stuff .

Of course a tune is a must .

Just in case you are thinking a 4l60e it will not work with the tcm . The 4l70e has a input sensor and the 4l60e does not and will not work proper . I dont know if the newer trans has a input sensor or not , but the 04 did not .

My tbss has a 5.3 in it. I blowed the original ls2 up. Just get a gen4 5.3 and swap it right in. Everything from the 6.0 will work on the 5.3. U can even run the 6.0 tune if u want.

Only thing to do for sure is plug the original dipstick hole in the 5.3 block. The tbss dipstick goes into the pan.

They are the same on all Gen IV

The crank position sensors are physically the same size and will plug in the same on all Gen IV BUT some Gen IV are 24x and some are 58x

Since this is a 2007 Trailblazer, the LS2 in it is 58x. There were no 24x Gen IV 5.3's. If he gets a Gen IV 5.3 it will be plug and play in the 6.0's place.

Then any LH6 Gen IV (24x only, it also came in 58x) 5.3 should work.
