P1810 Code 4l60e, VSS problem?
I have a 5.3 mated to a 4l60e, my setup before was a 5.3 mated to TH400. My harness and PCM were from a 6.0L. I converted 4l80e plug to accept 4l60e pins. Had my tuner stop by to tune the truck(1986 K10 Chevy) wasn't able to get the transmission to kick into reverse. Later that night I unplugged PCM and battery then tried again. The transmission was now able to shift into PRND but upon test drive, it wouldn't shift out of 1st gear. I got the code P1810 and suspect either wiring problem or VSS problem(I'm running a Dakota digital SEN-10-4160 installed in np208 transfer case). I triple checked the harness and my pinouts on transmission plug and range sensor both check out. I recall before the 4l60e swap the vehicle speed output would read 5mph when I would be going 40-60mph. What could cause this? My wiring checks out, suspecting VSS?
Below is the 4l60e diagram I followed to convert 4l80e to 4l60e.

What did you set the, pulse per rev, VSS setting at? Factory setting for a 4L60E is 40, which gets converted to 4000 pulse per mile. The sensor you are using is designed to put out 8000 pulse per mile. Your 86 should have an NP208 transfer case. The best way to get the correct signal to the pcm is with a kit like these.

Call Advance Adapters and they can tell you for certain which kit you will need. I got into the same thing with my K5. I finally ended up going to a 6.0/4L80E.
