1968 C10 LS swap not starting
#25
Replaced the Coolant Temp Sensor, tried the engine again and it popped once but I’d not start. Still waiting on my friend to bring on scanner tool to read the trouble codes

I pulled the codes on the engine, no codes were present. I also checked the pressure at the fuel rail in the run position, fuel PSI was at 54 psi. I purged the system and dark yellow, old smelling fuel came out of the fuel rail. could the rail have old fuel in it from the truck i took the intake off off and could this be causing a problem with the truck starting?

Nasty gas does NOT like to ignite, so yeah, that might be your problem. Get some fresh gas in that system!

Got fresh fuel flowing, still will not start. Backfiring through the headers. Not engine error codes. Mechanical timing? Reluctor wheel or cam sprocket. Could the valves be misadjusted?

Make sure your coils are hooked up right. Sometimes right and left get switched.

Check a wiring diagram and start tracing...

Update- still no codes. Using a multimeter when cranking at the coil plugs I’m getting .100-.400 milivolts. I assume this tells me the ECU is communicating to the coils properly? Getting good ground readings as well?

Similar problem
My 70 k15 5.3ls swap started and ran multiple times on the first day then will not start again. We've did nothing different from the last turn off till we tried the next day. Any ideas?
