Don't know if the '54 is the same but the stock steering wheel fit the Ididit column just fine. I took it off for now because it's just too big for me, you end up looking through the thing out the windshield. I have the Jim Meyer racing front suspension with the Buick rack on mine.
There are smaller diameter versions of the stock wheel out there but they're pretty expensive, I'll eventually end up with one of those.

New jack got here, got the motor and front suspension out. Motor mounts are ready to burn in.
My brother is going to wire up new lights throughout the garage next week while he's here for Thanksgiving. Pretty stoked to be able to work on it at night. Probably doing some can lights around the perimeter (I'm building shelving along the wheels 3/4 square with 1/8 sheetmetal), with some long led's along the ceiling. Will be nice to be able to fit my truck in at night and still have plenty of storage. Also once this thing is a roller I'm probably going to have the garage floor coated in the industrial hangar stuff. I should have done it before I started this since it's a new house. Floor is going to need some serious cleaning now...

What do you plan on doing for fuel tank and pump? Im about to start a swap on my 50 silver streak and am leaning towards a mustang or chevelle tank and grafting in a factory in tank pump setup from something newer.

Tanks Inc. makes a drop in EFI tank. I'll either use their bulkhead or just make my own (what I normally do). And then I'll put a single DW340 in it.
Someone put a new tank in this car already, but it's plastic and obviously not setup for EFI. I actually need to verify, because it might have the EFI bulkhead in it already. If not, i'll replace it with a Tanksinc metal EFI tank.

Got most of the IFS installed today. Passenger upper control arm mount is tacked. Power cable on my welder is fu*ked somehow. Prongs are loose and I have to twist it to get it to work. Sigh. So I'm at a stopping point until I fix it.
On a side note, I sold the original drivetrain for $200 today, and they hauled off the stock front suspension. Double score.

I used some cans in my garage because I wanted to keep them flush to the ceiling. In retrospect, because of the lack of available light output, I would have been better off with long LED fixtures and have subsequently added several.
If you must use recessed lighting, you They cost a little more up-front but they last forever, they are stupid simply to install, they take up no space and they put out very little heat.

I was just going to use the cans above the shelving and toolbox (perimeter of the garage). Mostly for aesthetics, but also so I don't have to have all the overhead lights on all the time. We'll see....

Got the EFI tank in today. Should have taken me like an hour, but I had to rebuild the strap mounts. But, it's done. First time I've really inspected the trunk, it's pretty much spotless. I think i'm going just going to do a spatter paint and a new trunk mat.

No idea. I guess I could toss my spare 6.0 in just to see. I'll probably do just that next week. I'm running the Dirty Dingo adapter plates which have 4 different locations to choose from.

Going to have to make some room and trim the front body mounts to get the heads on. Also, the factory parking brake is in the way, but I really want to keep it, so I'm just going to move it over closer to the steering column. Ordered all her fuel line fittings today. -6AN stainless braided lines to the corvette regulator, then to 3/8 aluminum hard line, then back to -6AN braided to fuel rail.

My girl got my a Yost bench vise for Christmas. Used it to finish brazing her fuel lines today. I've never had good luck using any of the garbage compression fittings when doing hardline to AN, so I've always just brazed fittings onto each end of the hard line.

Nice build, I hope your girl is not too disappointed that she could not drive it by xmas. You were smart to use the TCI bolt-in front x-member, quality stuff. I used one on my 39 Chev 2d Town sedan/LS2/4l65. A couple of comments. I'm pretty sure the front sway bar goes above the lower control arm, but you can check with TCI. In one post you mentioned using aluminum hard line for fuel, and next you said you brazed the AN fittings. I'm not sure of the process you used. I have heli-brazed steel fitting to my steel trans cooler lines with silicon bronze, but have no experience with aluminum other than just TIGing it. That slick truck intake looks nice. Maybe you could show everyone how you did it. Hey, we are waiting for an up-date, get back to work.
