4l80 gbody trans crossmember
I built a crossmember out of 1/4. Angle iron scraps and layered 1/4 by 1 in flat stock now that its together im not sure it will be strong enough im gonna add more steel to the center once im positive on the angle of the trans( still gonna lower the car a lil bit) im running a 5.3 with 15 psi for now... Do u guys think it will hold up?
Also my father says that if i bolt it to the bottom of the frame on the ends it will rip out he says it goes above the lip i made off my frame(i boxed the frame in and welded angle iron to the inside to bolt it to from under side) just looking for some outside input

The right side in the pic will not support any kind of weight. Look at other crossmembers and see how they are made, usually out of tubing or at least channel iron.

Ok my first idea was to use rectangle tube and build one but it seemed like it was gonna sit lower under the car and be visable from the side.
I went online and started looking for ideas and found a few gforce ones that had good reviews... But i see they are probably at least a half inch thick or more around those Bends.what if i welded more steel on it doubled the corners put small kickers in the corners on all the inside corners..til the point it's 5/8 thick or more in every spot? does welding more layers of Steel even help?maybe made a layer that runs under the exhaust.
Or just ditch the cutout ? and run the exhaust out the hood lol.
