Yes and no.
Thinking that may be the same as the Dakota Digital pass thru VSS. Looks like it does put out the sine wave that the ecu requires. But the pulse rate is very low. It wont support the GM DBW cruise control. In my case, even with the low pulse rate, it did prevent stalling issues.
I was told, not all tuner software could set ppm correctly with that pulse rate.

do you have anywhere else you can pull a signal from? for instance I used the ABS ring on an explorer axle and it works great.

I used a similar sensor in the past and it was ok but not great. I prefer an ABS wheel speed or rear gear ring, transmission output (obviously not available in this situation) or some other more consistent method of picking up speed.

GrannySShifting, I'm just not impressed with the little stamped steel things like you listed but that is my experience. What Doug listed has promise but I prefer the junkyard route. :D
Is there an ABS or electric cruise control version of the vehicle you're working on?

8008 pulse per mile is a lot less than 40 pulse per rotation (driveline) the 4L60-E used.
Skip that, and adapt 4L60-E bits to your TH350 w/ an early (4-bolt) 4L60-E extension housing.

Keep in mind that the stock GM VSS is a VR (2 wire) sensor. The Hall effect 3 wire sensors are not compatible.

I like Mathews suggestion of using 4L69e bits, but I have no direct experience with it.

Good catch Andrew, I didn't even consider that was a Hall Effect sensor. Yep no workie unless you want to spend more money to get a converter for your converter... :bang:

What I linked is a 2 wire sensor, not sure what you are referring to

I dotn care about cruise, just getting vss into ECU. This is 70s camaro so no ABS rings

What years did "early" 60e tailshafts have 4 bolt housings?

Without VSS, I had stalling issues when coasting to a stop with a manual trans. Not sure if this occurs with automatics.
The low pulse rate Dakota Digital pass thru fixed that without even having it tuned to the correct speed. I was told by that tuner he could not adjust pulse rate that low.
On my second swap, I used the same VSS to eliminate the stalling. This tuner was able to adjust the pulse rate to get correct speed. However, the low pulse rate resulted in a jerky DBW cruise control (stock GM DBW CC).
Not sure what you want to do with the VSS info, but the 2 wire pass thru might be all you need.

94-96 Impalas and 94-97 F-body cars would provide you a source for the 4-bolt extension housing you are looking for.

thats really odd you had stalling issues. before HPT v3.36 you could just delete the VSS codes and bump the idle airflow and the vehicle would never stall. after that you could just select non-electronic auto and it'd default to in gear idle airflow numbers.

It depends on how much camshaft it has. Auto cars benefit so it knows when in or out of gear, rolling or stopped

Rostra manufactures DD’s DBW and cable operated cruise control units - wouldn’t surprise if DD’s bits (speed sensors) to support that kind of stuff also come from Rostra.

To the OP - the ecu in mine is expecting a speed signal from the GM/T56 sensor reading a 17 tooth reluctor in the tranny. I’m not using that transmission so I made a 9 tooth reluctor that mounts on the pinion flange and is read by the GM sensor. It’s stable enough that the ecu puts out a speed signal for the speedo - I can read it on my phone. Stalling not a problem at stock idle speed - 650ish rpm.
