Default Which oil pan for an LS swap into 70 Skylark

Can you use the Fbody oil pan when doing an LS swap into an A-Body? I only ask because I will be swapping the turbo LS setup I have out of my third gen Camaro into my 1970 Skylark. Any help is great. Thanks!!

This is a good resource for oil pans.

Not to be a Jerk..... but have you read any A body threads? There are enough on here that there is practically no guesswork required to put an LS in 68-72 Chevelle, Lemans, Skylark, Cutlass.

Holley 302-3 should fit with tie rod clearance and it has provisions on the pan for oil drain back from the turbo(s).

Thanks for your help in regards to my question.............Jerk........ j/k Its faster to ask the question sometimes than to spend a day or 2 looking thru post trying to find what you need. Sometimes in all of that old info there is nothing there to answer your exact question.

Take it easy tough guy...

Use the Holley swap components...all of them...for the best engineered swap you can build.

I can't get away with being a "telephone tough guy" either!!!! Man I can't be tough any where 😀

I recently did an LS swap into my third gen Camaro and had to buy the FBody pan. I was hoping to save myself a little cash if I could still use it in this swap.

Thanks for the reply!

There are many ways to do it cheaply....but only one way to do it right. The issue with any other methods is that it leaves the engine either sitting too high or too far back. This causes driveline alignment problems or issues when dropping the transmission at a later date. Also, when you mix and match parts, you don't know what other parts will fit. I did my swap 10 years ago. I used "generic parts." The inner tie rods fit and I was lucky to get headers that fit.

When using an engineered "system" ALL the parts work together. Engine placement is super critical, especially if the A body is lowered in the rear (most are).

Sell the F-body pan. They are popular.

My post got erased. I'll sum it up quickly.

Highly recommend the 302-3 Holley pan. I just used it on my swap.
No recommendations on mounts other than I regret my use of BRP engine and trans mounts.

BRP doesn't put as much engineering into their stuff as Holley does. Some of their stuff doesn't even fully work together. Holley's DOES. Once you know what your setup will be, you get the mounts, tranny crossmember, and oil pan, plus their exhaust parts, and they WILL all work together as designed. If it costs a little more. it's worth it for not having to hassle with it later. Holley's stuff is PROVEN many times over here in this forum. IT WORKS. PLUS, their guy who is known here as "Toddoky" hangs around here quite a bit to help out if needed with more info or tech help.

I've used the F-body pan in an A-body. If its a 4-door frame, it won't fit. I had to cut/plate the frame.
A 2-door frame is different. It'll fit if you have a big hammer. It'll still rub the frame.

Pretty much any of the 3 Holley pans will work. 302-2 requires the windage tray to be modified - can't use stroke crank. First copy I saw in 2014, the machining was terrible so I sent it back. 302-1 allows full length windage tray and can accomodate a stroke crank. Excellent machining and it basically worked. I ran the 302-1 in my 66 GTO and it worked fine except my inner tie rods would contact the pan. 302-3 requires the windage tray to be modified and allows a stroke crank to be used. Just swapped to the 302-3 and it fits great and the machining is decent. No problem with fitment.

I'm using the Mast oil pan, P/N 401-111, and it fits awesome. 67 GTO with dirty dingo mounts.
