Default 1st gen Camaro LS manifolds?

Hey guys! I am trying to find an LS manifold that fits the driver side of a 69 Camaro with power steering. I have tried the truck manifolds that came on my 6.0 and the manifold in the Holley turbo manifold kit. No go! The ones I have tried do fit when flipped, but I want to find one that fits in the normal position to avoid the plug wire routing issues. Anyone have any ideas or experience with this? Thanks in advance.

LS3 manifolds are the most compact...but without a visual of where your problems are....impossible to guess

Well I tried to reply with a picture of the problem last night. Something flashed on the screen about the reply posting after moderator something something? Basically there is not enough room between the engine and steering box with the 3 manifolds that I have to try. The 1st gen Camaros and same subframed 3rd gen Novas have the rear steer set up with the box next to the engine. I am hoping that somebody here knows of a manifold that fits.

there is not much room at all. last summer I did a single turbo build for a guy with a 69 and ls1-6spd, a/c, p/s swap. the car came to me running with the swap, I have a stack of manifolds for builds and nothing was even close. even fabricating a ground up turbo system was a P.I.T.A.. who ever did the swap used a swap specific kit with shorty headers built for that application. those headers fit like a glove. so knowing that I would search out headers for your swap application.

I have never seen a stock manifold fit in a first gen Camaro or Nova with the steering box in the factory location. Headers are most likely your only option.

That is the conclusion I have come to. I really wanted a cast manifold, but a shorty header looks like the only option. Speed Engineering has one that should work for a descent price. A buddy of mine has a set of their long tube headers on his Silverado and was really impressed with the quality and fit. Thanks for the responses confirming this.

I have the Holley mounts that use the clamshell, and when I test fit the manifolds for a 4th gen LS1 they are close stock, but after I cut and filled in the o2 bung they fit. However they were very close to the ps box. If you got the manifolds, filled the o2 and had someone angle mill them I'll bet they would fit great. I ended up using the generic stainless headers on eBay and thanks to the roadkill Dyno sessions I didn't feel bad one bit about denting the one tube to fit.

Hmm., some good info there. I will look into that before ordering the headers. Thanks!
