Default 3rd Gen F-body LT Headers UPDATE

Spoke with Bruce Hawkins yesterday..............

The first 10 sets of headers will arrive in 3 weeks. He's got another order of 10 sets coming in a few weeks after that!

He's estimating at least a 25-30 hp increase at the wheels, based on how much the stock motor car that they used to make the header jig beat another stock motor car without the headers.

Bruce told me to spread the word that these headers are SWEET.

I'll be forking out some money as soon as I hear how well they fit from the guinea's. Also, I thought I read somewhere, but didnt see on the site (Hawks), that the collectors were 2 1/2" instead of 3". Wonder why?

Pass the word: StngKlr's car is going through surgery, and in the end it will be the fastest GenIII powered thirdgen in all of the land.

Well, since an LS2 is technically Gen IV I guess mine won't count for that title.

He's got them listed as $749 for just the headers on his website. www.hawksthirdgenparts.com Add $40 if you want A.I.R. tubes. No EGR option. Y-pipe and Cats can also be bought as a package (Not a bad package price for RANDOM cats, either).

I would like Long Tubes as well, but i am scared that they may not fit...When i installed the exhaust manifolds, i had a set of 2002's and a set of 1998's, well the 2002 fit great on the driver side, but hit on the passenger side, so i had to install the 98 manifold on the passenger side, i thought the 02 manifolds would fit and are suppose to flow better, but i fear it has to do with my camaro????

When trying to bolt on it seemed to rest on the k-member just to the right side of the motor mount. Yeah like i said i am worried it is my car, because i have found a bunch of stuff wrong with this thing since i have owned it. It has been crunched hard on the right side at one time. I was going to replaced lower a-arm bushings while putting in the conversion mounts, but someone has welded the bolt to the k-member for some strange reason. There has been quite a bit of work done on the car...

It did have normal SBC headers installed though, so i dont think that would be an issue. I did have to do some modifying on the f-body motorsports conversion mount to get them to fit. and i think it might have lowered the engine some in the k-member which i guess could have caused it???

Cain,

Bruce's headers were designed and fitted to stock k-member and LOWERED cars, if that helps any. I'd give Bruce a call and discuss the situation, he may have some thoughts or similar experiences with as many swaps as he's done.

that the collectors were 2 1/2" instead of 3". Wonder why?
I talked to Bruce about this and he said it was because of the lowered cars.

That 7.21 @ 99.08 is on the sauce though, right? I'm just shooting for internet glory, so to clarify my goals: First I'll shoot for the fastest thirdgen with a Gen III motor that is cam only and bolt-ons, then I'll shoot for the same with a power adder. This means I'll probably be one of a few in that class who actually cares and the glory will be all mine.

I'm really just looking for an excuse to dump some more money into this car. Thats not being very rational is it?
