Default easy 50 hp (Doh!)

Although my sig indicates I don't need any engine mods I picked up at least 50 hp by a simple mod.
Make sure your gas pedal opens the throttle all the way!!!
I found out I was only getting about 80% throttle. The lokar gas pedal I installed wasn't getting enough travel to open it up all the way.

Great advice, a very simple detail that could be easily overlooked.
Thanks,

Wouldn't you know? Recently I had my TB ported & the bump stop recessed to achieve 180 degree throttle plate travel. Didn't even think about the pedal travel until reading your post. As you say, "duh". I could kick myself. Because I hadn't changed the pedal travel, the throttle plate remained opening only to where the bump stop was (about 3/16" short of 180 degrees). After kicking myself (several times) & adjusting the the pedal stop, she's now open all the way to 180 degrees. Thanks for the reminder.

I made the same mistake. I had too much slack in the Lokar cable and I was only getting to about 90% throttle. Always a good mod...making sure your actually at WOT when the pedal is to the floor.

Can someone pm me instructions on how to check and see if my pedal is traveling all the way. I've always felt like it has too much slack in it, maybe its just me, or maybe it really does. I would really appreciate a write up of some sort to check and maybe alter my pedal.

Just have a buddy check the throttle body to make sure it is hitting the bump stop while you are flooring it (can be done with the car off). If you have a tuning program like HP tuners or something I think you can check TPS, but Im not sure on that one...am I wrong on this?

O man, that sucks. A buddy of mine was telling me about his friend that has a Hurst Ta. Apparently he ran it at the track a few times and was putting out low 14's. Took it to the shop to get looked at everything seemed fine couldnt figure out what it was. He ended up taking it to a local Dyno here in STL and it ended up being he was so short he couldnt push the gas pedal down all the way!
