Default Holley Ignition system for LS1...

I see in the Summit catalog that Holley has a "race-only" ignition system for LS1s, plus an Engine Management system to go along with it.. price tag is pretty steep ($2500 for the DIS and $900 for the management) , anyone seen or used this? for a hybrid would it be a good way to go or is it way overkill?

Yikes!! I haven't seen it but I would say at those prices it's overkill for ALMOST ANY project, hybrid or not!
The factory system (both ignition and engine management) is going to be very tough to beat for most applications. It's not like the old SBC where you had ONE ignition coil and it was a compromise between good cold start spark and high RPM output. With EIGHT coils, you can do everything good. High output for good cold starting performance, and great high rpm output because of the loooong dwell time you get by having one coil for each cylinder! I know "high performance" aftermarket coils will start comming out soon for these engines, and people will buy them, but I think anyone will be hard-pressed to actually prove any performance gain!

What would a total stock electrical system, plus computer, coils, etc. cost? Then what will LS1Edit cost on top of it, and will LS1Edit let you manage each cylinder independantly?

I really don't know where you're headed with this, but to briefly look at costs: I sell stand alone LS1 harnesses for $750.00. Add to that maybe $200 for a PCM, $200 - $250 for a set of coils, I don't know what your "etc." is so I don't know what costs are there, and then as a guess, $500 - $600 for LS1 edit (I don't know what it costs on an individual basis) and you're good to go.
That's in the $1600 - $1700 range?
And that's if you need all of it. All of the LS1's I've bought came with coils, so I've only replaced broken ones here and there.
I couldn't find a lot of info on the Holley systems, but I would call the individual cylinder management a BS marketing ploy. My "roots" are in GM engineering dynomometer testing, and the equipment required to effectively measure results from independant cylinder fueling and spark management costs WAY more than any of the piddly engine management systems we are talking about here!!
But hey, if you've got the money and want to play, go for it. But just don't expect something "better" than the GM system; it won't be.

I guess I should've just asked what the stock engine harness/computer/coil setup would cost, that was what I was driving at. I'm going to try building a good LS1 out of two "Bad" ones, and if it goes well my next step will be to put it in something. I am looking to do it as economically as possible, so if stock electronics save me alot I'll certainly go for it. They're good enough for my own car!!!
