1970 LS1 camaro
Just picked up a LS1 last week.
Its out of a 1998 f-body.
Going into my 1970 camaro .
Unfortunately I had to take the engine apart
to check it out .Found sludge after removing
a valve cover so i pulled the engine apart to make sure all is OK ,except the for the rings
being stuck with sludge and carbon everything else
is OK .

Re: 1970 LS1 camaro
Well I really want to build a 382
all bore , but funds are running out quick
I do have the engine all apart now
and now I see I have to get all new
hardware with these torque to yeild bolts.
Now I am probably going to port the heads
maybe put in a solid roller and that's it.
When funds become available then I may yank it all apart again and do that.Or I might wait
and do it now , car runs OK now so I'm in no hurry
I have a 6.0 liter iron block I'm trying to get rid of if anybody wants it , make me an offer
I have about $450 invested . I also have a stock
A/C bracket and a compressor(dont think its anygood , Dont have A/C in my car and not putting it in. A set of 1998 heads and valve covers also
anybody needs parts I have some.

I am putting a LS1 in mt 70.5 RS right now. Motor and trans mounts are built. I will drop it in after I finish cleaning it. Its a 98 LS1 with a T56, 9" rear end, lowered 2" Its called HALFAST.
It fits amazingly well. I notched the subframe for A/C clearence no big deal, alt. cleared no problem. The trans has plenty of room except for the selinoid next to the shifter a small dimple will fix that.

Hey guys, that's the reverse lockout solenoid, right? Anybody know how to remove it? Is it as simple as unhooking the wire, pulling it out and plugging the hole? Or will the PCM complain? I won't be using it in my 67 Chevy II, and I'd love to have the room back. It's big!
thanks,

I think your right that is the reverse lock out but I don't know if you want to remove it. Does that also provide the reverse detent so you don't shift into reverse by accident. I also opened the 1-4 shift selector interesting how they do that, if you could grind or remove some of the metal on the shaft you could disable it and let the selniod think its working. I will look at it some more after I get it cleaned up. I am shooting for Hot August Nights in Reno THIS year, we will see.
