Default ls6 cam&intake in sto 6.0 help

I am going to put a ls6 cam and intake on my 6.0 truck motor. What I was needing to know is is the base circle of the ls6 smaller where I will have to get longer pushrods or not? Do you think I will see any gain in power. Thanks for all the help.

does that intake have a cable throttle? if so does it work out ok with the top radiator hose on the 6.0 water pump? i think the push rods are different length. THANKS

I am using the cable tb off the 6.0 and have a vette water pump and ballancer. The cam is an 2001 I think it was 2002 that the ls6 went to a smaller base circle on the cam and went to a longer pushrod but I may be wrong. Any more inf would be very apperciative. Thanks Woody

the truck manifold are suppose to flow better than the ls6 intake so i would of kept it if it would clear the hood. and the cams are all the same and interchangeable along with push rod length. there the same. they just went with bigger lift and a little more duration that's all

Hey man not to like be mean but u just said two completely wrong things. The truck manifold outflows the ls1, but the ls6 will still outflow the truck intakes. And in the z06 the cams were different and u will need pushrods to put in ur truck. All other cams in the ls family are direct uhhh slide in? haha

i think if you change to the vette water pump and balancer you would have to change all your accessories because the truck accessories and water pump and balancer have a different spacing away from the block than the vettes

Yes that is correct on the accesories. I think I read somewhere that it was in 2002 that the cams changed on the ls6 and needed a longer pushrod. Any documentation on this from gm would help me decide whether to use the com or not. Thanks for all your help Woody

The base circle on both the '01 and '02 & up LS6 cams is smaller than the LS1 / truck cams.

'02 & up LS6 heads also run longer valves (by .6mm) to help compensate for the base circle reduction.

Also, your stock LQ4 or LQ9 valvesprings aren't the same as the LS6 pieces and may not tolerate the LS6 camshaft. You need to figure that out too.

I expect that you'll either need to put it all together and measure for pushrods or use an adjustable aftermarket valvetrain. But either way, I'd start by doing some homework.

Thanks for all the help on the ls6 cam. I found a web sight that cleared up the 01 to 02 and smaller base circle question. It was very helpfull http://www.idavette.net/hib/02ls6/page2.htm Thanks again Woody
