Default LQ9 windage tray with LS1 oil pan?

Can I use the truck widage tray with the LS1 pan?

I also have the LQ9 take off (off of brand new crate motor!) pan to get rid of I'll trade it for a LS1 pan or sale for 95.00

You might have a little clearance problem at the front of the pan, but nothing a cutoff wheel wouldn't solve. The truck tray is longer than the F-body tray.

ps. I think you accidentally put a 1 in front of that price

Not without cutting. The oil pickup bolts to a different main cap so you have to take a chunk out for that and the truck tray is longer so you have to cut the front off in order for it to fit in an f-body pan.

When I did mine I did it with a 3" cutoff wheel. Unfortunately I do not have pics because I was in a hurry and needed the motor in the car that night and didn`t find this out until I tried to swap the pans . But if you look at it you should be able too see what needs to be done, The pickup tube for the truck pan mounts to a main bolt one maincap further back than the f-body pickup so I tried to cut out the same shape opening in the windage tray one maincap further forward. The truck tray is also longer, if you look at the bottom of the front of a camaro pan it has an indentation for clearence where the front connecting rods would swing, and the windage tray ends before it get to the front set of connecting rods. The truck pan is deeper there and the windage tray extends all the way forward. You can either cut the front section of the tray off or I just cut off the bottom of the front of the tray, I left the 45 degree "wings" that are on the sides.

The tray is a little thick for tinsnips but a drill and dremel would work, a cutoff wheel and dremel would probably be the best.

building an LQ4 for a friend I came across this issue when attempting to install the LS1 oil pan. I just thought I would post up some pics of what I had to do to make it work. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

I have an LQ9 motor with a vette oil pan, pickup, and windage tray. I bought the vette windage tray at the GM dealer for under $20, not worth modifying the old one.
If you can find anyone to buy a truck pan for $95 or trade for an LS1 pan, let me know........
