Well , IIRC they did use the S+P mounts, but I could be mistaken.
I do post routinely on www.nastyz28.com where several members have made this conversion and not 1 of them needed the modified oil pan from S+P.

I'm going to use the Trans Dapt ones that this guy used.

Any other pics? Looks great!!! My first car was a gold 79' Z28 and I dreamed of placing an LS1 inside of it, however; I just ended up buying the 2002.

Aces is right.....of all the second gen guys I have talked to or had a chance to see their swaps, there is only one guy who decided to notch his pan. That was because he felt the clearance btw the Xmember and the pan was too close.
I am doing the swap on a 71 and I believe I have done as much research as I need and nothing has led me to believe that I will need to notch my pan.....well...I guess I will find that out this coming week coz I start mounting shiet on Tuesday.

I have started on my 71 camaro. I used the s&p motor plates. They did not line up with the stands on the frame. I had to move the stands and drill new holes. I also moved them back about one inch, could not go any further cause alternator was getting close to crossmember. The oil pan clears with no problem.

Can you post a link to the exact pacesetter headers that you used so I can purchase them ?? Thanks.

2 quick questions.....
You did say they fit with minimal adjustments. ??

Also, can you remove these while the engine is in the bay ??
Wondering because I can upgrade to them AFTER my install to save cash for now. I need a new exhaust system anyways might as well do it all at once.

Give us your Cardomain ID # so I can see the larger pics if you can.
Thanks for the pics Mjls1

Motor and brackets are a 04 gto. The "hot" wire on alternator is about a 1/2 inch away from front of crossmember. What are you using for a throttle cable? I see it not lokar. Car looks awsome!

Also, using the Trans Dapt mounts, how much did you have to shorten your driveshaft?

My headers hang a inch and half below the subframe.I think it was around 2in for the driveshaft but you will need to measure your setup.

Hey Guys, Im doing this same swap into my 79 trans am. Im trying to figure out what to do about a center console. It looks like some people are putting in the center console out of the new camaro/trans ams that the engines came out of??? Any recommendations here as to what works best and looks good? Also does anyone know of a good gauge cluster i can buy? Im looking to go with electric auto meter gauges but Im wondering if anyone makes a gauge cluster bezel or something to put these gauges in.
Thanks!
