Will a 6.0 out of a 2004-5 van work for a swap? Is it LS1 or LS2?

Default Will a 6.0 out of a 2004-5 van work for a swap? Is it LS1 or LS2?

Hi, This is my first post and have been searching and have seen some of you run 5.3 and a few 6.0. But are the truck and van LS engines a worth while install. I found a decent price on a 6.0 from a 2004-5 van an was wondering where it fits in and what works on the swap and what doesn't.

Thanks

the external dimensions are the same headers, intake, etc. but you can't mix accessory drives you have to use all truck, all camaro, all vette, etc. its just an ls1 with an iron block and bigger bores

You can if you switch to an f-body or vette accy system. Or you will have to move an idler pulley and you may have some interference between the water pump outlet and the throttle body, but some of the performance trucks people have done it so it is doable.

Thumbs up LS1 intake vs. truck

In at least one publication that tested intake manifolds, the truck intake was very good for low to mid range torque and would pull up to 6000 rpm or so. This is plenty for most street applications and the torque is a good thing for cars that are a little heavier. They are called LQ4 or LQ9 engines and come in two HP ratings that I know of. One is a 345 found in Cadillac Escalades, etc. and the LQ4 is a 300 or 325 hp (depending on where you read) and is found in most all GM pickups and vans. Mine came out of a 2003 van. I'm not quite done with my install, but you can see pictures of it in my post, "Starting the Swap" in this section. Good luck!

the biggest problem with the truck acess drive and intake is the hood clearance

Have any of you had to move or make a bracket for the AC compressor? I saw one article post some place with just some steel brackets to relocate or add an AC compressor. I have a Sanden 508 I think.

I am making a bracket to hold a 96 V6 camaro compressor on my 5.3L. It will be high on the passenger side head and still have room for the EGR valve and stock tensioner pulley. I am waiting to get aluminum plate, if I can find the pics of the wood mock up I will post them.

Lightbulb LQ4 not LS2

The 6.0 in the truck is probably the LQ4 which is a 325 hp motor. Check the link for my 6.0 in my '39 Chevy that is underway at this time......Will use the matching 4L80E trans, too. The thread shows how we notched the fram for A/C clearance, but added a lot more metal than we removed. SHould be plenty strong!
Good luck with yours!
