Porsche boxster ls1 swap???
okay its late and im dreaming, but people have been doing 914 ls1 swaps, so im thinking well maybe a ls1 boxster is possible. Has anyone ever measured a boxster to see if it is possible? I would think (no idea really) it would be just as hard as a 914 because they are both mid engine and cramped, but the boxster has a water cooled engine to start off with right so that may make things easier
what do you guys think?

I don't know of anyone doing this conversion, yet. I suspect it'll just be a matter of time before someone actually completes one. From what I know, the 6 speed version may be an issue, since the starter location on that transaxle is a 12 0'clock, and points forward.....You should check on this to be sure. The 5 speed version may be troublesome as well, since the LS1 crankcase is too wide for the starter to fit the transaxle starter pocket. You could do as I did on my LS1/6 speed Getrag 914.That is to use the LS1 starter and its loction and make the adapter plate thick enough to accomodate the stock flex plate. Down side, is that you have to machine special parts to adapt the clutch and TO bearing.

Porsche LS1 swaps
Check out Kennedy Engineering in Cali. They make hundreds of adaptors for LS1 swaps. You could alternately use the Porsche starter on a Porsche transaxle and use the adaptors from Kennedy Engineering in California.
