Default truck fuel rails w/ corvette regulator

i have a '04 6.0 w/ the return line coming right underneath the feed line at the back of the manifold.. my question is can i run the corvette style filter/regulator and only run the feed line to the intake? will i be able to just plug the return line? i'd rather run 1 line if possible and run the return right out of the filter/regulator near the tank...

You can use the vet regulator. Then you just run one pressure line up to the fuel rail. You have to have a return line it is mandatory. Your chevelle may not have a stock return line I am a little rusty on the older cars. If it does not you will have to run one. But what you can do is where the fuel filler neck is, if it has a smaller 3/4" pipe that allows it to feed fuel back into the tank when filling the tank you can t into that pipe and splice in your return line at that point. All it has to do is make it back to the tank that will save you have to do tank mods etc. You also might have to upgrade to a 3/8 pressure line if your car has 5/16 most of the BBC's and later chevelles had the 3/8 hardline on the frame.

if i use the corvette regulator and run the return from that to the tank, do i still need to hook up a line from the return on the intake?

No, because the vette regulator would take care of the fuel pressure, you could then block off the return line on the fuel rail.

thats looking like the way to go for most swaps. the less line fuel has to travel through, the safer i feel should a fitting leak/line rust/plastic line chafe.

does anyone know the proper plug for the return line side of the fuel rail to do this "conversion"?

Does anyone know the answer to this?
I may need to go this route until I can find an f-body intake setup.

I don't think its a good idea to block off the return. I would get a returnless rail if you want to run only one line. You would have two regulators with a Vette filter and a return style rail.

Run your supply and return lines right to the fuel rail and skip the corvette filter.

I just did this same set up on my nova with a 5.3 , ran fuel to yhe feed and blocked off the return on the rail and ran a return style filter out back....and it did not work, when i turn on my fuel pump and TRY and start the motor it wont fire, but i tur off the fuel pump, the engine fires right up....but if i turn on the fuel pump the engine bogs and dies.....so i got two options....get rid of the return style filter and plug in the returnline on the rail...or go to the junk yard and pick up a returnless system....

Default Fuel rails

Long story but I converted mine to returnless and used a set of LS1 rails. Need to make new brackets for the fuel rails but that's a 30 minute job. There will be some extra expense with various fittings and adding a Schrader valve or small pressure gauge at the dead end of the new rails. Worked well for me.

Nobody's mentioned this (and I'm no expert), but when I was thinking of going 'return-less' I discovered that you'll need to re-tune the ECM for it as (apparently) manifold vacuum affects fuel flow and such and such and what-not...so I bailed out on it, at least for now.

You'll run slightly rich if you use the corvette regulator since fuel pressure won't get pulled down at idle and cruise. It'll be well within the LTFT's ability to control, so you'll likely never notice it.

I have used the vett regulator on the return style rails. I run a small set screw in the return line of the rail and tig weld it in. Works good, but getting the newer style return-less rail looks better.

Just grab a returnless rail off of a 04+ intake. Problem solved.

The regulator on the return style rails is MUCH better than the corvette regulator anyway. I don't see the point.

Same boat here on a Cherokee swap ordering the parts now. SKIP the BS Corvette regulator. SKIP the $$$ fuel rails. Both are a waste of $$$.

The stock truck fuel rails and regulators are good to like 600HP. Sooo why mess with it?

I am going -6, but you can convert to -8 if you would like (overkill and does not match anything Stock ID anyway), just upsize from these PN#s:

Check this out:

Use the line and fittings to connect in between as needed for your application. The long runs at -6 vs -8 will def save some $.

Some crazy fitment adaptability information for the fuel filter:

All of this is available on Prime Amazon. Since this order does not add up to $99 for Jegs/Summit free delivery.

i just swapped a 5.3 with return with an lq9 without return, since the 6.0 is already returnless can I just block the old line on the truck to the tank off?
