Please keep giving updates and details. I've been considering the same thing for my 69 Olds. Looks good.

Great project. I've always thought the 6.0/4l80 truck combo was the best way to get LSx power and a stout tranny on a reasonable budget. Believe me, I've thought about doing this to my 442, but being a real 442, I don't think I've got the heart (or the cash, lol) to pull out the Olds power.

That is a beautiful '71. I miss my old '71, it was the same coupe body style as yours (non-fastback, non-post).

Chris442; I am a diehard Olds nut, it took many late night "should I or shouldnt I" thinking sessions to decide weather to do the swap or not. If my car was a highly optioned Supreme or I owned a 442 or SX this swap would'nt even have been considered.

That is an awesome car. Can't wait to see the results. I am a huge fan of the Cutlass from those years and would like to acquire one myself. Good luck!

Well things have been moving slow, I got my headers yesterday from flyinlowss, he sold me a real nice set of lightly used S&P ceramic coated mid-length's. I acquired a cable drive TB and installed it. Yesterday, I went crawling around a junk yard and got some wiring stuff, an OBD-II DLC from a Blazer and found a nice 7 fuse/3 relay block out of a mid 90's Lumina cop car. I'm waiting on the finances to pick up the Moroso pan and get the motor mocked into the car. I'm still having trouble with finding wiring diagrams and pinouts for my harness, I'm trying to eliminate the drive by wire.

Well progress is slow, I'm going on vacation in 7 days and have been saving money for it. I did get a smoking deal on a Fuddle HP/Truck 3200 2.0 STR converter. Hopefully this compliments the Vinci XXX cam and Magna-charger I plan on running here soon. Plans are to have the cam and associated parts installed by September and the engine in the car a little there after.

I'm working on a 67 buick with a 6.0 lq9 right now. I've got it in and bolted up. I've ran into a small problem with the power steering pulley hitting the gearbox. I'm going to see if I can find a smaller dia. pulley.

FINALLY GOT MY WHEELS! After 6 months on order (round of applause for Discount Tire) they came in today, only to have one cracked and needing replacement! WTF? American Racing is taking care of me, like they should, and replacing it free. Now I can finish the rest of the suspension and actually start the motor swap. Unfortunately I'm leaving for 7 weeks of Air Force training in Tucson this Sunday. So the wait continues....

I got a little bit of work done the last couple weeks, right now i have just been collecting parts and getting the motor ready for the cam swap. I still need a cam, Autokraft pan, mounts and other small stuff. I got most of the brake system installed and plan on wrapping up the chassis next weekend. I converted my harness to stand alone and converted from DBW to cable drive TB. Harness work was simple and went right on track with what most people say, 8 hours of diagrams and 30 minutes of work. I also got lucky, when eliminating my A/C connections one of the weather-packs is the same as the TPS, that will save me some time trying to find one.

Yeah Most of the lq4's came from 2500 trucks and they all have a 4l80e. May have more tran tunnel clearance issues than with a 4l60e.

i got a BFH on standby, if i need to ill take the jig saw and cut a slit down the side of the tunnel and use that to relieve the points of contact, then figure something out from there.
