I just ordered gm's new muscle car oil pan for ls conversions. Comes with pick up tube, windage tray, dipstick, bolts & gasket for $150!
Just finished 6.0 swap into my 68 camaro & truck pan sits to low, just look for gm ls oil pans & it will come up.

truck pan have 8.25 inch... muscle car oil pan have 7.75... same problem : ground clearence....

For early camaro, you need max 6 inch tall maximum.... like moroso, autokraft!!!

good luck.

the truck pan I have is 8.75 in. long so the muscle car pan from gm would really help out!

I was under the impression that the "muscle car" oil pan was still a little too tall for F-body cars. Someone had mentioned that this set-up was actually a re-branded stock oil pan from a production vehicle...maybe H2?? Someone correct me on this.

I ended up getting a used LS1 camaro oil pan and a set of 1" set back motor mount adapters for my 76 Camaro to get everything to work...plenty of clearance.

THe muscle car pan will giv you only 1 inch more....!!!!! you really need 6in total, max 6 1/4... i have dropped my car of 2 inch, and whit a 6 inch oil pan, the pan will be at 2 .5 inch from the ground....! 0.75 inch whit the muscle car pan!

I have the truck pan in my camaro right now & it has bout 4" ground clearance & it's a lil lowered. Im going to put the muscle car pan & raise the car back to original, should be fine.

my problem was bad shocks & soft spings, it rubbed a couple of times. I'm going with other pan with good shocks & stiffer spings like yours. 1 more inch would really help, at least that's what she said, hehe..

is 4to 4.5Lof oil enough? I have the truck pan on my '07 LY6 and I will be cutting it down too, So I need to know if this is enough oil to run down the dragstrip WFO.

i know most all super stock drag racers run there engines at bear mininum oil, usually about that amount. on my set up i'm gonna run the oil cooler and i'm gonna run a dual oil filter set up too to add to oil capacity....
stock camaro is only 5.5 qts, most other cars are 5 qts also...

racers run lower oil to keep it down and away from the crank, that advantage is gone when the volume of the pan is reduced. I am wondering if the oil pump can or will drain the reduced volume pan, in the 12ish seconds at high rpm, that a run takes.
I question wether a resevoir will help any, as the pickupp has to be covered, to pump oil through the lines, so that added volume is not really available if the oil level gets to low(reduced volume pan) in the first place???

hope have an anser to this question..... i chek whit water on my pan, and if i cut off 2inch, i will lost 1.8 qts. To the full dip stick line, i enter near 6 qts . After mod, i will have only 4.2 qts + oil filter, oil pump and pickup full, i will have max 5 qts total. About 3.5 - 4 qts over the pickup is enough for never miss oil pressure at high RPM....?

Old school small block pans are 4 qts plus filter so you should be fine. It might not be good for sustained high rpm or road racing though. Keep an eye on that pressure gauge during those times.

thanks for the time

There are no valves in the oil pan so you will be fine swapping.

just drop in the 4 or 5 quarts, whatever you'll be running,....and try them all out.

expecting none of them to be "just right",....pick your favorite dipstick and make a new FULL line based upon the fresh oil you just put in.
