So, do I need to find a way to connect 2, 3, and 4 to the radiator? 2 and 4 look like they might be self contained. Any truth behind my guesses?

The coolant crossover #4 should be connected into the upper radiator hose
#2 can stay as is.
#5 is plugged into the engine wiring harness.

next question is what is what is this engine going in?

what he said ^

well the PCV system should be intact and in place but Im not completely sure if thats what that is just my best guess. Some people just get rid of the throttle body coolant stuff, its only there to keep the throttle from freezing in colder climates, your call. the coolant crossover should be connected to the radiator, or upper radiator hose. I'd wait for someone to confirm what i think they are, just to be sure.

Dude don't lie to me! I've never once met another Grewe in the Navy... Let alone here at the beach!

Well the beach doesn't exactly get what I would call cold... And I'm transferring to San Diego in August, so no worries of cold there. For now I'll just cap it and forget about it. Don't want to remove anything I might need later on I suppose.

The temp sending unit makes sense. Now to just find the plug on the wiring harness.

Could you guys explain 1 and 3 some more? I've no idea what to connect them to. Thanks.

The motor is going in my 1980 CJ5 Click the link in my sig to see more pictures than you probably want to see.

The evap stuff is used to burn off fumes from the gas tank. In the stock car, it would be a line from the gas tank up to the engine compartment, hooked up to a evap selonoid then the hose you have there is hooked to the selonoid. you can eliminate it completely, tuning is required to remove any codes.

the PCV actually sits on the engine as a closed system. hopfully someone can find (or point you to) some nice pics of the whole system intact then you can tell what you need to do.

Good luck.

I ran the crossover line to a tee in my upper hose, but since I did my swap I've seen people drill and tap the water pump (on the flat portion on the upper left corner of it) and run the line from the crossover to there. In hindsight that's what I would have done if I had seen it done before

#1 You can pull off the manifold and cap it
#2 You can leave it the way it is, or pull the tubes out of the throttle body completely, you don't need them
#3 is you PCV Valve and plumbing. Leave it as is, you need it.
#4 You need to connect into your cooling system as others have said. I drilled and tapped the top of my water pump for a fitting. Working great so far 2 years and 7 k miles.
#5 as others have said is temp sending unit.

BTW, your temp sending unit is broken. You can probably still plug the harness in, but the plastic that holds the plug in place is gone, so it may not stay put. You may want to replace that, or find a way of keeping the wiring in place.

Does anyone know if the PCV is different on an '01/'02 LS1 with the LS6 intake? I don't remember seeing that during my tear down.

EDIT: After doing some searching, it looks like the LS6 PCV is much different. Does this mean LS1's with the LS6 intake should have this different style PCV?

Rhino, That is an LS6 intake on my LS1 block. I plugged picture #3 into the throttle body and hope that's the right spot. The wire was bent pretty much perfectly for it, not sure why it was unplugged in the first place.

Anybody have a clue how to connect picture #4 to the radiator? Or should I tap into the water pump like somebody said? Got a link to help me do it?
