Default ls3 in FRC

Hey I was looking at maybe getting a z06 in the mid low 20's. I cam accross a 99 FRC with 111,000 miles so i was thinking maybe throw a ls3 in it. How hard of a swap is it. Would it need a new trans. What about harnesses. Im thinking it would be a whole lot easier just to throw a ls6 and mod it a lil.

No new trans, but an upgraded clutch might be a good idea

The swap would not be too hard at all. No real need for an LS3, I would do a 402 or 427 LS2 block, which is a very easy swap.

yeah... I would do a stroker done of a early LS2 block or ls1... 24x wheel. all the stock stuff will go together... with your computer. It should be cheaper than a factory LS3 crate motor.

use a balanced ls1/ls6 crank in a ls3 block,
will have to use ls2 timing gear and sensor, for cam
and use the l92 heads and intake along with 90mm tb
no need to convert the harness, the ls2 sensor is plug in, just need the timing cover, gear, and cam sensor relocation harness
the ls1/ls6 24x crank is the same stroke as the ls3, which is a 58x

A trans is not needed and some people prefer the M6 out of the regular C5 over the M12 of the Z06. The knock sensors and 90mm TB will need a conversion harness and as stated the reluctor wheel willned to be changed.

If you go with the FRC go with a 01+ tq tube when you do the clutch.
