I fabbed that bracket myself to mount the factory Ford compressor to the 5.3. I went to the salvage and got another compressor to use in the mock-up while the engine was on the stand. Then when I pulled the old 302, I just put the compressor to the side without breaking any of the lines loose. It's an original R12 system that works great, so I didn't want to F it up by trying to convert it to R134a. Some things are better left alone! It did require removing the factory spring loaded tensioner, I replaced it with an adjustable tensoiner from an SHO Taurus. So far it has worked well, and I don't see it giving me any problems. I've put about 3500 miles on it so far.

Yeah, that would actually rock (especially if they could get Christie Brinkley or a lookalike to pose with it)...

That is to funny looks like you had an awsome time though. I know it prob dont matter, but what kinda milage did you get out of that motor on the Power tour anyway? I was just kinda curious, I have a 5.3 that I wanna stick in my third gen TA and might be moving away from my original carb idea with gas being a bit high. Still wanna do a turbo system though. Collecting parts at a snails pace at the moment. Did you ever come across that darn Red 308 with that girl or not?

On Power Tour I managed a best of about 20.4 mpg, I tried to get the mileage possible, honest! It's just hard to keep your foot out of it when there's so many other people haulin' ***! On my trip to South Dakota I drove a little more sane, and managed to get a best of 22.4 mpg. And when I say sane I mean driving like a grandma, it's tough for me to do, and I'm not sure it's worth the 2 mpg more. I guess it's not too bad though, considering the car probably weighs a couple of tons or better. It's also got a 3.08 gear in case you were wondering. Never did find the 308, but I did figure out a way to make the ding in the quarter not so visible. It will probably stay this way until I can fix it for good. It is kinda wierd driving a car, that I just know someone is going to take offense to, saying it's a racial slurr, sprayed across the quarter. But I really don't care!!!!!

When you get the hubcaps complete and the honky lips and dent removed I would love to see a new set of pics. Your work is amazing. I know you've heard it a million times, but this is the greatest car build I've ever seen. I wish I could have one.
