Default 5.3 1968 skylark project

i got my hands on a complete almost damage and rust free 68 skylark for $1200. plans are to throw in a carbed 5.3 and a decent cheap th350 and drive the ***** off of it while i do interior and body mods.

so who can help me out with my A body swap questions?

whose motor mounts and oil pan should i use so i can retain the 5.3 accessories? car shop plates, edelbrock, or brp?

also to keep costs as low as possible manifolds or headers? i would rather do headers but if i can run shortys i would.

the plan at the moment is to score some disk brake parts from the pick a part and rebuild the front suspension with a pst poly front end kit. i will also replace all the body bushings and trailing arm bushings as well.

as far as the engine goes i will leave it mostly stock and just replace the cam and valve springs with either a zo6, 224, or gm hot cam.

i have so many ideas, lemme know what you think of the car.

That'll be a nice cruiser. You might be able to use the 5.3 oil pan without having to buy one. I'm not sure but It seems I've seen that done on here in the past. I thank the issue is the truck pan is very deep and will stick down below the cross member several inches.
Good luck with your project.

Running the truck accessories could be a problem. And is the biggest issue at times with running a truck engine. You may have to swap over to vette, camaro or GTO accessories and intake to make it fit. I dont knwo much about A-bodys but on my B-body I am about to the point of spending a little more $ and getting a LS1 out of one of the cars I mentioned above.

Gonna be an awesome cruiser - I'd think about finding an overdrive trans - A 700R4, 200R4, or 4L80 depending on what you want to spend will give you better first gear acceleration, less motor wear, and a break at the pump.
