Default Does PCM need oil pressure reading?

Is it necessary to connect the oil pressure sending unit to the PCM? I was planning on just removing the sending unit and using an adapter fitting to install a mechanical gauge. But, I wanted to make sure it is not going to cause any issues with the PCM.

I'm running the Moroso pan that has a remote filter, so I don't have the luxury of using the location that most people use on oil pan oil filter location.

I removed mine and replaced it with a sender for an Autometer gauge. No problems.

No,

I replaced mine with the OEM one for my Chevelle, idiot light works and I tapped the bypass plate above the oil filter for my Autometer Gauge.
