Default Problem With Starter and GTO 6-Speed

I'm using a 2005 GTO 6-speed and bell housing with my 2003 LQ9. I cannot seem to get an LS1 starter to fit, the mounting surface on the starter is too tall when the back end of the starter is inserted into the bell housing. Is the GTO bell housing different from the Camaro style? What starter do I need?

Please Help!!!

You'll need the GTO starter to work with the GTO bellhousing. Was it that tough a problem?

Did you find the p/n for the GTO starter - apparently I have the same problem and will need one also. Thanks. -Bob
