Default Some help 08 frontier

ok sorry couldnt find anything in the search 4 this.

But my buddy has a 08 frontier with a 4.0 in it. 4x4

Were wanting to do a ls based motor in it. thinking of a 5.3 4l80e with transfer case.

maybe some hybrid driveshafts. and a gm rear end in it. dont care about width. that comes along the road. most concern right now is the motor trans combo.

He wanted an ls1 but i didnt know if they would bolt to a 4l80e they should but i have no knowledge to say so. but what about a 5.3 with a hot cam. and ls6 intake and most likely keep stock oil pan and pulleys.

What do you guys think. getting in place wont be hard. only thing that will be a problem will be the 4x4 and we will go with a stand alone computer 4 it. money is really not an option on it. or time. just want to do something ls based in a nissan think it will be a little different the truck is already lifted and everything. just needs a better motor let me know what you guys think

not to be a dick but search harder before posting that will answer the easy questions. if money is no object why do a 5.3l? why not a 6.2l caddy motor, ls3, ls7, build 454lsx etc? research your axles the rear is plenty strong the front is ifs and that will be suspect depending on tire size and if you plan on running a locker. oil pan will be entirely Dependant on what it needs to clear probably h3 alpha or modified pan. transfer case could be an issue every thing for a 4l80 will have front shaft on the drivers side Nissan I believe is on the passenger side. of the top of my head the Colorado is the only gm I know that has the drive shaft on the passenger side but then you are stuck with a 4l60. but money is no object so get a custom case made or put a 27 spline shaft in to th 4l80 and have an adapter made. I'm all for lsx powered everything but if money is not the issue and you don't have a large power goal in mind why not do a titan v8?

If money is no object build a duramax/allison. There is no better engine transmission combo for a truck IMO. Nothing like a grade braking auto and 17mpg hauling a 14,000lb trailer.

yea i would love that for a huge truck. but this is a mid size truck and just want a decent mid range motor. although a allison and duramax would be bad ***.

Trade it in on a 2009 Colorado 5.3. Available in the ext. cab and crew cab in both 2wd and 4wd as per MOTOR TREND.

I really don't think it's feasible. Maybe a H2 that already has a gen IV motor in it would be a better starting ground.
