Default shortening c6 dirvetrain?

I tried this in the transmission forum, but got no response, so:

I'm building a car from scratch and it has come to the point to choose my running gear. I've settled on an LS2, but I would like to use the transaxle from a vette to keep the weight distribution close to 50/50.

My question is, is it possible to shorten the drive tube and components between the engine and transaxle for use on a shorter wheelbase car? Is it tangible? Cost and durability?

It's possible and has been done before. As for cost, I have no idea.

yeah bro. it can be done. just take the torque tube out, and just cut it in half. and go from there..... remember, you also have to cut the drive shaft.

Subscribing.

I want to know more about this too.

In my case, I need it to go longer (2in), but I was planing on playing with the engine mounts. Is it a good idea?

How do you cut the drive shaft and weld it back without weaking it?

Pretty sure you can ditch the torque tube and just use a custom driveshaft with ends that match up. Wondering if someone will chime in who has done this.
