Considering a LS Swap into my 90 Trans Am... advice welcome!!
Hi all,
I have a pretty clean 1990 Trans Am that Ive been considering doing the swap too over the winter. I have plenty of experience with LSx cars and doing swaps. The car actually has a 1987 3.8L Intercooled and Turbocharged v6 from the Buick Grand National. Me and my brother did that swap last summer. Im just looking for something thatll make more power, safer and all that.
The car has a TH400 and a Fuddle 3200 stall converter(stalled for the v6) and a full catback etc. Id figure with the LSx swap mounts, everything should bolt up to the TH400. What kind of stuff would I need to make this swap possible?
What kind of;
Accessory drive
Oil pan
Intake
Headers
Any help would be sweet. I am thinking that the car will get anything with the 4" bore for starters. I have a good head start on the car so the money ill be spending will be on an engine and getting it to work in the existing setup!

help..
Whats up.
I have 92 that I just did an ls3 conversion on.
Any questions I can answere I will.
Also check out www.thirdgen.org
message boards...
then click on the ltx/lsx swap section. EVERYTHING>>>> ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING you'd ever need or want to know about doing the swap.
Good luck.
You can find some videos of my swap I have about 4 or 5 on you tube. Do a search for 92 firebird ls3

We shall see what I fetch for mine, I got it for such a good deal and did alot of the rebuilding work myself, I cant lose money lol

Do it!
I just swapped a 5.3L into my iroc-z cause im poor and cant afford the real deal.
I know to swap the LSx infront of a TH400 you need a TCI Flat flex plate, and a pilot spacer.
If your interested in the pilot spacer, ive got on here that i didnt use.

I just got done swapping a 2002 ls1 w/4l60e into my 92 Z28. Pretty easy and straight forward. I used a spohn k-member and mounts. Fabbed up my own trans cross member. Installed a 3500 stall, TSP Torquer V2, Titanium retainers and dbbl valve springs. Car is mean! Also loud with my Mufflex 4" exaust. I say do it!

I like the Spohn Torque Arm and Crossmember for my TH400. Are the spark plugs easier to access lol? How much were you guys spending to get the project done? All ill be needing is an Engine and pretty much everything that bolts up to it(except for Th400)
