Taking the plunge: LS3 into '64 Tempest. Need help with shopping list.

Do you think that your starter would go in if the pan did not have the "kick out"? Do you think you could get the starter in and out if you had the JZ Motorworks pan as it goes straight down and does not have the kick out area?
I have the Edelbrock mount system and was going by the same pan and headers, but no way in heck will I consider a system that does not allow me to service the starter without pulling the trans..

That's hotrodding I suppose, when you're using a lot of aftermarket parts these kinds of problems sometimes crop up. From what I've heard the LS-series starters are very reliable, so once mine's in I'm hoping it will stay in.

My project is unfortunately on hold right now.
Too many things happening right now that take precedence over having fun with cars.
I started this thread with three main objectives; To gather information on how to go about this project, to share my work to help others taking on similar projects and to help me stay motivated so I could see this through.
I will finish the Tempest, but not for a while.
Thanks for looking, Bart

stumbled across this thread by an engine harness search. Got really into it and read all 224 post took about an hour of my time and learned a lot about building what you really want not whats always available. As a NAPA employee i noticed some stuff like the red metric bolts and brake lines, pretty cool build hope you get to finish her one day and reap all the benefits.

I love how you mounted the coolers and ran all the hardline instead of using rubber hose. Very nice build. I like the bracket GTO as well. Good luck with sorting out everything.

I have read through this thread several times and I must say your build is amazing...and inspiring since I am planning a LS swap in my 65 Skylark. I hope everything is OK with you and your family and hope to see you get back to your build soon. Sending a PM with some questions.

Bman64, I don't quite understand the POR15 and fiberglass. I know it's your build, but isn't lead or spot welding better than the POR15 and fiberglass? Especially in the window channels? I'm curious because my Buick has a lot of work and I need to buy shop tools, welder, air compressor etc... Thanks in advance
