Differences in versions of 4L60E's
Now to answer your question:
The output shaft of 2WD and 4WD 4L60E are totally different and the transmission has to be extensive disassembled to swap output shafts.
Considering you are talking about 20+ year old transmission, I am certain that even the '02 should to be completely rebuilt. The input shaft seals will likely tear, same with gaskets and frictions are likely 90% worn out, with many internal leaks.
IMHO, it would be better to sell your 2WD trans and use the money toward a 4WD 4L60E, any year between '98 and '06 will work, later years are better. Just make sure it is a 300mm trans from an LS engine.
