It's alive finally. I have been working on the LS3 418 since last fall. Made a lot of changes to the car. I finally got to start it today, but can't get the damn MSD 6010 to connect to my laptop. I have a good USB to serial adapter so I don't have a clue what is causing this problem. http://s621.photobucket.com/albums/t...t=100_0403.flv |
Sounds brutal can't wait for track times on this one. Those usb to serial adapters can be a real headache...what works with one combo gives problems with another. |
Sweet, sounds great! |
Make sure the MSD is powered up. Try different COM ports in the "port" menu. If your USB -> serial adaptor works on other stuff, chances are it'll work on the MSD. Russ |
I just got the adapter today, when I discovered my laptop didn't have one. The only choice I get on the com port is com3. It won't let me change that. |

Try few different port numbers until one recognizes the box this is the reasons I went carb'd rather than FI. Still had to F with a laptop and port numbers IRQ numbers etc. |
It won't let me swap ports. I have no choice but com3. |
Fixed the connection problem this morning. On some computers, pin 9 on the serial cable is used to activate modem software. When this is the case, the MSD won't connect and you can't swap com ports. I broke off pin 9, then I could swap to com4 and now it connects perfect. |
Hmm weird problem. Wouldnt ls3 require the MSD 6012 because is has a front mount cam sensor and 58x crank wheel? |
It has the 24X reluctor, so you have to use the 6010 and the LS2 timing gear. |
