Today's projects were to put Gas in the tank and get the fuel pump working, pressurize the system and check for leaks before putting the body on.....Got it powered up and found out immediately that tight is not tight at 60psi....Tightened everything again.....and got all the leaks taken care of......Glad I did that before the body was on........

I also got the exhaust system installed, just need to finish the ends of the tailpipes after the body is on to final fit....

Picked up my O2 sensors today....

Spent the day getting the wiring and vacuum lines straightened out and finished up and I also picked up the body and rear fenders........

Vacuum line running down to the Brake Booster

O2 Sensor Installed...........

Picking up the Body and Fenders with the 1 pc windshield installed.........The Jury is still out on the windshield as they have a slight distortion in them......If it bothers me I'll take it out and put in "V" butted flat glass...

Ken

Is the distortion visible from the inside or the outside? I met a guy with a one piece windshield and his was distorted from the outside but oddly enough, not from the driver's position (he even had me sit in it). I don't know how that worked or where he bought it but that's how it was. Everyone else I know is either traditional, has V butted glass or isn't finished with their project.

Got the body back to the shop today....and after unloading it I needed to spray some undercoating on the underside of the floors......Helps to have some special tools.....LOL

Got the chassis ready.....

Getting the body back on the frame.........Ya Mon!!

I knew there was going to be some interference with the GTO pump assy so I measured and Plasma cut the opening prior to putting the body on.........Worked out pretty good...

Didn't put a scratch on it yet!!

I have a question/comment about the stainless braided fuel line you used. Was it the type with the plastic (teflon?) liner like the one would use on flexiable brake line?

I had a friend use the aeroquip braided fuel line (no liner) that was more than the psi rating for the fuel system and it constantly smelled of fuel leaching right thru the line.

No liner.........................Humm!!........I'll have to keep an eye on that...I did have some smell in the beginning and it ended up being a union that needed to be tightened a touch more......it didn't leak enough to drip on the floor but just enough to keep the fitting damp......Thanks for the info.....

Looks GREAT! Going with a similar color on my '46.

Regarding the fuel lines, to avoid the fuel smell I chose the Teflon lined aeroquip hose with the fittings for teflon. Supposedly the best way to go I have read when using braided. I don't think there is a safety issue using any of the braided hose regardless of the linking as long as it is specifically stated to be used with fuel.

Great build, I have been enjoying this thread for a while!

This is not the wheel or tire size I will be using, we just mocked it up to get the back spacing set....the tire on that rim is 27" in dia and the size we are going to use will be 29" in dia.......with the 29" tire and the gear ratio in the rear I should be around 1800 rpm at 65 MPH....The rims and tires should be on the car early next week.....

One of the other issues I'm dealing with is the 1pc windshield.....seems the glass place is having some issues with getting the glass shaped correctly.....the windshield was installed at the body shop and when I picked the body up I really didn't focus on the glass as I was blown away by the body and paint work....after a week of looking at the glass, I can't stand to look at it any more.....I'm in communication with the glass company trying to get a good piece of glass......if that doesn't happen......out it comes and I'll just have to put in the flat "V" butted windshield...

I also cut a hole in the floor and got the wiring inside the car today......I 've got a couple of plates made that will seal the opening in the floor and traps a rubber grommet around the harness as it comes thru the floor to seal everything ......I was trying to figure out where to fit the ECM and decided that I would mount it right in the middle of the firewall as I have a real neat touch screen radio that I have to build a mini console for so it will be hidden behind it........The radio is pretty cool.....Flip screen, touch screen, navigation system, satellite radio, audio and video CD player, and it has a camera built in for backing up......

I also have to put in the sound deadener before I get too far..........

What are you thinking about using here, Dynamat type or Lizard Skin? I'm planning on using Lizard Skin in mine.
