s10's using BRP/Muscle Rod headers? Anyone using the BRP/Muscle Rod headers out there? I'm interested in the full length headers, but using the Current Performance engine mounts. Anyone use the headers with someone else's mounts? Don't want to pay for another set of mounts. |
anyone? |
Me I have them on mine 1.75", had troubles with one tube that goes around the frame. Still not sure if it was the headers or the frame that was the problem they fit very nice outside of that. No performance results yet I haven't got it finished and out to the track yet. BTW installed engine and headers with the front end off. I don't know how much that will affect your install. |
I have a set of their mid-length headers on my truck. They fit ok, had to trim lip off firewall and a bit off upper a-arm on passsenger side. Driver side fit better but not much clearance, if any, that goes around steering shaft. |
I did the swap with the motor mounts BRP offers. |

I will be using their Mid-Lengths and thier mounts...Another member that used thier mounts and mids had some clearance issues...but that was with the older mounts and pipes....There are some guys over on S10Forum that have used the LTs with no issues and different mounts... |

I just peeked at ObsceneHp's S- Blazer with a set of those headers, take a look. |
thanks i like your set up it is pretty funny becouse i ran that same set up with a 408 six speed f body l92 cnc ported heads by texas speed with a little extra work cam a little different it was 238/242 113 lsa l92 ported intake 90m nick 11.8 compresson 1 7/8 headers it made 551 rear i think that you need some brp headers at least 1 3/4 if it is in your buget |
Current Performance Wiring stopped making their 1 7/8 Longtubes ( they fit completely inside the framerails and were coated ) or else I would've gotten those...The 1 5/8s shouldn't be a big restriction from the 1 3/4s Here's a pic.. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2358...60344825gFvwvJ |
I just attempted to install the brp's 1 7/8 in my 82 with the carshop inc's mounts and no go not even close the back tube passenger side hits the frame like the flanges aren't in the right position and same on the 3rd tube back on the driver's side and the 2nd tube back driver's side hits the frame before the head. any ideas? I talked with the guys at brp's but they don't sound to knowlegable about there own product. Really dissapointed I think I need to contact visa and look for another company for a set of long tubes any one else make long tubes for a S10 LS swap? |
RetroLSX sponsor on here just started producing Current Performance's 1 3/4 longtubes in Stainless and they're supposed to be for under $600!!!! I'll find the link... Post #118 https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...ings-ls-6.html |

Hopefully the ones that are fixing to come out fit like they are suppose to, or I'll just use camaro manifolds and call it a day! I'm not after every last hp out of my swap.. |
thanks guys i'm still waiting on BRP to let me know what to do but I am going to check into these other header's. |
BRP has some quality products that they offer. My truck has the BRP mid-lengths, engine mounts, and crossmember. Prices are pretty over the top in my opinion |
