Nice build. My wife had a Fox-body when we met. Given what a good car that was, & as easy as it was to work on, I've always liked 'em. Enjoy!

Hi Orange Notch & 89 notch 5.3,

Great build! I am just starting my LQ4 LS truck motor into my 1988 5.0 hatch. I already have the Ford Motor Sports FMS aluminum drive shaft. But I have a power glide tranny to run.

How much shorter is the glide compared to the long shaft turbo 350? Next dumb question, do they make a long tailshaft for a glide? I know chevy did put power glides in some trucks believe it or not. Is it possible to move the engine back much to accomodate the powerglide to FMS drive shaft (with a stock firewall)? Lastly do they make longer front yokes for a FMS drive shaft to go into the glide?

Hey just trying to be creative to somehow make it work and save money here!

I will be starting my build thread soon too guys! Just gathering parts now and in a few weeks going be dropping my motor in!

It should trap around 115mph and mid to low 12's as it sits if it sticks. Those headers will kill you though. They'll work, but there is some power left on the table for sure.

Why do you say the headers are going to kill the motor?

1 5/8 is just too small for a 6.0. A set of 1 7/8 would wake it up big time I bet especially when you get a decent cam/intake on the motor. It will still fly for what it is though.

Headers are temporary, its getting turbo'd later on. This is just to get it done for now. The ports on the headers were opened up to 1 7/8's btw. And if it traps 115 ill be happy. The 306 that was in it went 12.2 at 113 with a 1.8 60' on nitto's

Havent got to that yet. probably run some sort of cai to the drivers side front down low. My battery is on the pass. side and the upper hose is in the way.

Btw, a stock style radiator will work. I cut my upper hose to fit like a glove and a 4cyl. lower hose fits as it wraps all the way over to the pass. side. I have an aluminum dual pass aftermarket radiator but it fits just like stock fox radiator.

Default AJE k member & steering rack clearance

Hi Orangenotch,

My next question is did you have any issues with the AJE K member and the steering rack clearance? I read another swap where a guy said the rack was hitting his oil pan and he had to drop the steering rack 1 ". Did you use the 5.0 AJE K member or the 4.6. Did you use the new AJE LSX engine mounts? Do these engine mounts just bolt right in or did you have to drill and modify them? Lastly is there any way I can use AJE LSX engine mounts on the stock mustang k member? I am just really trying to do a budget build. I am retaining the 5.0 mustang power steering and swapping the hose over to the LQ4 mounted power steering pump on my 88 hatch. Thanks dude.

I would probably charge $200 plus shipping to modify a set, if you have flanges id take 50 off. I can make flanges. Let me know if interested.

As far as selling mine, make me an offer and we'll go from there.

And as far as the AJE kmember, I had no problems. The stock control arms had to be shimmed with washers only one per mount, no big deal. The mounts they sent for lsx motor bolted right up no drilling. Im using the one specifically for an lsx/sbc motor. The pan clears the rack by quite a bit. Im using a stock truck pan. I still need to get better pics soon. There is no way that aje mounts would work with a stock kmember and I dont see how you would get headers to fit with a stock kmember with an lsx.

I can work with you on price for modifying a set. If they are actual 351w swap headers then the price would be less as theres less modifying to do and some headers just plain wont work. Id have to see a picture of the headers that you want modified before you send them.

I have a set of copy motor mounts of aje mounts for aje kmember in a foxbody also that id sell. The ones from aje/jegs are $70 plus shipping.

These are thicker metal and alot better welds. Id take $50 shipped for the pair. I can get pics if needed.

Default AJE 5.0 OR 4.6 k MEMBER

Hi Orangenotch,

Thanks for the info! Did you use the 5.0 or 4.6 AJE k member? I notice lot of guys have been using the 4.6 K member in a fox, but one guy said he used the 5.0 k member. Thanks, you have been a lot of help.

The aje kmember will fit whatever from what I know. You just order the correct mounts to go along with it.
