Hey orangenotch, first off great looking notch.... yeah I'm a little bias as I'm in the process of getting my own '86 Coupe conversion finished...doing a 5.3 w/th350 short tail.... been following your thread and hoping you could pass on a part # on the conversion joint. I would also be interested in seeing some pics of your tranny mount. Just curious to see how it looks. I used the stock th350 mount and modified my crossmember to mate up to it but still had to shim the mount to raise the tranny up to get a good angle.

I used a t5 mount that I had to do quite a bit of modifying to to get it right a th350 mount will work, just got to shim it as you already know. As far as the conversion joint ill have to look. If you go to a knowledgable person in oreilly's, autozone, napa they should know what your looking for. Just a chevy yoke to ford driveshaft.

If you can't find the part don't worry about it, I'm gonna hit the local Driveline shop tomorrow ..... surely they'll have what I need. I found a shaft off a '87 TBird that should work with my short shaft TH350 Tranny.

Got a slip yoke put on this morning but thx for the info anyway. Ran into a little snag trying to install the shaft. The driveshaft rear flange wouldn't clear the pinion nose so I had to lower the tranny to get it on. I'm gonna have to move the motor forward to get the needed clearance......Oh well trial and error.

What kmember are you using? I think theres 2 different length front yokes. The tbird driveshaft may be too long also. Mustang driveshafts are all same length 4 cylinder/v8 all you have to find one and put a th350 yoke on the front of it. There is no reason it shouldnt work.

I'm using the stock K-member..... I'm on a limited budget as I'm trying to stretch every dollar to finish out some interior work and a full weatherstrip replacement so an aftermarket K member wasn't an option right now. My stock v8 shaft wasn't long enough. I don't think a longer slip yoke would of worked anyway. Mind you my trans is a short tail.... I'm sure the long tail version would of worked but I wasn't aware there was two differant tail lengths otherwise I would of looked for a longtail instead of getting the short version. Like I said moving the motor forward won't be a problem as I still have enough room to work with to get driveshaft in there without resorting to lowering the crossmember

Fuel system is about half done, just waiting on 2 fittings. trans cooler is plumbed and ready. Ordered shifter, fittings, gauges, and plug wires last night. Picked up a starter and bolts yesterday. All that will be left after this is 02 sensors, trans fluid, and that should be it minus wiring and tuning.

Ill get some new pics up this week sometime.

Whats the hood clearance like with the truck intake/cover? Do you think it would clear the stock hood? Sweet build by the way.

With mine The alternator hit the stock hood. A no lift fiberglass pin on would fit. But I can only imagine if the alternator hit than the intake would.

On my car I used the 4.6 K member and mounts, with 1/2 K member spacers and a 4 inch cowl hood the truck intake cleared by some but I never measured it exactly. The truck intake did not stick around long...

Everything on my build clears a 2.5" cowl hood. Stock truck in take, stock truck accessories, everything.
