1993 Camaro LT1 to LS1 conversion
Hello, I have a 1993 Camaro Z28 with the LT1 engine and I want to do a LS1 swap into it. I know doing the swap is pretty straight forward. I know I have to change the motor mounts to get the engine to fit. What I want to know is what do I have to do to get an LS1 to work with the factory LT1 gauges and whatever else I need to do to get an LS1 to work/run without any problems.

not trying to discourage you but unless youre up for doing the work it is more cost and time efficient to sell your running lt1 car and buy a ls1 car. you need ls1 and all front accessories, wiring harness, computer, ls1 transmission, ls1 steering rack, ls1 k-member, vette fuel press regulator. the little stuff adds up 100 here 50 there.

Yeah. I was thinking about getting one. Now how did you do the wiring harness so it works with the gauges in the LT1 camaro? I read that the LT1 gauges won't work with the LS1 wiring harness.

Ok if i was to do a LS-engine swap in my 93 Z28, could i have a LS-engine wiring harness made to work with the LT1 dash gauges or would it be easier to redo the LS-engine harness to make it work with the LT1 gauges? another question, could i buy after market gauges and make a custom gauge cluster so the LS-engine wiring harness can work?

has anyone ever though about using a Worlds Products Motown LS engine block, hybrid engine block with Gen 1 SBC bottom and the top is LS-engine (whole LSx top end)? I saw this not that long ago and was thinking that sometime down the road get this block and use it in my 93 Z28. This Motown LS engine block bolts right up to the factory Gen I/II SBC engine mounts.

If you were to swap the gauge cluster out for an ls1 cluster would you still have to modify a ls1 wiring harness?

get all the ls1 serpentine accessories, sensors, wiring harness, oil pan. (that's probably 1500) Then get a lq9 motor and save for some upgrades, seems like there is more potential there. Lt1 to just Ls1 doesn't seem to be worth it. Seems like a lot of the ls1 guys are moving on the lq9/stroker or ls3/stroker setups for power. Don't know, I'm running my lt1 one more year before I move on...

My cars a 96 (Im not the OP, sorry for high jacking) im in the mix of doing the dash conversion and its hard to find a 97 cluster at a reasonable price but theres a boat load of 98+ clusters for a fraction of what a 97 would cost....just wondering since i plan on doing the LSX swap if i can then use an LS cluster.
