I started with a 2wd transmission because I bought the Engine/Trans/PCM/Wire Harness with 22,000 verified miles on it for a package price of only $1500.
Swapping the output shaft cost an extra $300 at a local trans shop but with such low miles it was worth it to me.

ok cool. so will a 4wd tranny work just the same? and were those c6 manifolds or c5 manifolds? searched ebay and all the c6 ones were like a 4 bolt oval flange instead of a 2 bolt

Yes, the 4wd transmission will work perfectly because you will not need to swap the output shaft. When you get your trans make sure you get the stock transfer case adapter with it.
What I did was find a guy that was parting out an early 90's S10 Blazer and bought everything from the torque convertor to the tailshaft with all bolts and even the mount included that way I wasn't chasing stuff down.
Regarding the exhaust manifolds, I could swear everyone told me C6 manifolds in the earlier posts here. The ones you are finding might be LS6 or LS7.

I have not dropped off the face of the earth. Been crazy busy at work and traveling quite a bit.
The good news is I finally got my motor mounts from Advanced Adapters. I also found a YJ Specific Aluminum Radiator with a Fan, Shroud, Trans Cooler and Steam Fitting for $400.00 on ebay. Superior Radiator is right here in Mount Clemens, Michigan so I went to the shop, checked it out and bought it on the spot.

It works very well. I used the Jeep to tow a 21' boat and a 68 Big Block Cougar in 90+ degree heat without an issue.
The Cougar was stop and go traffic and the boat was at freeway speeds. I watched the gauge and it never got to a level that I was concerned of overheating.

cool,really cool lol, next question, i got a 700r4 tranny and transfer case from a 90 or so blazer. and the transfer case has only 5 holes unlike the jeep case that has 6. is this what you used as well? a 5 hole?

Assuming you are talking about the front flange of the transfer cases then yes.
The chevy S10 one will be a NP231C and the Jeep one will be a NP231J on the round tags riveted to the front of the case.
Open both of them up and take the output shafts out of both. Then install the jeep output shaft in the s10 (with all of the s10 guts) front half. Then reassemble the case halves using the jeep back half.
The nice thing about doing it this way is no expensive transmission adapter is needed and also you can use a s10 transfer case shifter. I used the one from Novak. Also the s10 case has a bigger planetary gear set and a switch for 4wd low if you have a pcm with a 4wd tune.

$500 for shipping a radiator! Something's wrong with the quote they gave you. They must have mistakenly quoted it as overnight priority. Call them directly at 586-463-8722. If that doesn't work out let me know.

Ok... Now I understand.Try and call them directly and pay with a credit card over the phone. Should be at least 10% cheaper since they don't have to pay the Ebay fees.

got mine fired up tonite. still have lots of things to do, my shifter will be here tomorrow,. intake hoses in a few days and still have to order radiator., picking up a 8.8 tomorrow nite, hope to be driving in a week or so.

Great thread I have been using a lot of tips from here in doing my own swap. I do have one question. When you say use the stock transfer case adapter do you mean from a mid 90's S10 or the one that came with 2005 drivetrain? I ordered one from thye mid 90's and one side hase a 4bolt pattern and one is six. I think the one I am looking for is from a new style 4l60-e?

That looks like the older style. Yes, you will need the adapter from the 4l60E. I wish I had a picture of the one I have but I believe mine has 6 bolt holes on each end. Check with a local transmission shop. They will know exactly what year the change was.
