The only issue I see with this tank is the cost. It is $880 including shipping. If you want to keep an original tank appearance it would be a great deal but for a little more you can get a Ricks custom made stainless tank with time tested baffling and pump. Appreciate the information and it is alot better than the Spectre for sure.

Rick, you should give them a call at Route 66 Motorsports and see if they have something for the A-Body. The 69 Camaro tank wasn't on there parts website, it was only on E-Bay. Maybe they might be looking for a test fit or trial car to try it on, maybe they could use your car, that would be sweet.

On the 69 camaro, no it doesn't, but then again I don't push my luck with an empty tank. I have only run it down 12 gallons. I try to consider 10 gallons of consumption to be empty. I have hammered it up a hill with less than half a tank and it didn't starve.

I have run it with the walbro, and I think it works well. I don't run it empty and hammer on it like you can with a modern sump system. I think it is a reasonable compromise if you can live with that limitation. I wouldn't hesitate to get on it with less than half a tank. I actually haven't starved the new tank, but I haven't pushed it too much.

Update
I emailed spectra corporate... My updated tank was shipped today. I had to pay $68 for shipping but i am very impressed with their customer service. I will update if the new tank has the issues resolved. My tank was purchased over two years ago but i only have 400 miles on the car. The Spectra rep understood the issues with the tank and was very helpful to get me the updated version. I really didnt think i would have to pay for shipping but whatever.

Well I learned alot from this thread. But no one has mentioned swirl pots etc. But like everyone on here I would think using a factory efi module would be the easiest. Dont reengineer the wheel if someone else has already done the hard work.

Well I ordered my spectra tank a couple weeks ago and finally got around to looking at it today. There is no sump or baffle in this tank at all. Ordered it from Rockauto and thought for sure all the problem tanks were gone. Guess not. What a major pain. Be carefull, the old tanks are still out there!

Route 66 Motorsports is selling a pretty sweet tank, my buddy has it in his camaro. Hopefully by next spring I'll have it in my new project 69 Camaro. Here's the e-bay link for info http://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Camaro-...37337435989173
69 tank wider than 67-8? or just the inlet different?

Rout 66's tank looks like a Tanks Inc. pump IIRC

Any updates on the fuel tank issues? Such as the Spectra or the Ford 350 fuel pump conversion. I am getting ready to do a 1965 Buick Skylark and was wondering what the latest is.

Is there any update on the Spectre tanks?
I'm getting to the point where I have to choose a tank for my 69 GTO, and if the Spectre tanks aren't fixed at this point, I think I'm going to have to go the Impala route.
Anybody with info on the new tank design and how it works would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jim

I got an email from Spectra saying yes they have fixed the fuel sump issue. They will only supply the pump they have been using and you cannot upgrade to a higher capacity fuel pump. With me probably making 550hp at the motor that won't cut it. I would have to replace it with a Walbro. Then the problem of getting the latest style fuel tank and not and old one still in stock.
So I will get a standard fuel tank and install a Tanks Inc fuel pump assembly. Tanks Inc sells both so I will order them at the same time. I feel this is the only safe way to do it for me.
