Oil Filter doesn't fit!

I am running a 5.3 out of a 2003 suburban. However, I am using the H3 muscle car oil pan. I tried the Napa Gold 1042 filter and it would not screw on. Is it because the H3 uses a different thread pattern. If I got the Napa Gold 7060 would it have the correct pattern? What do you guys recommend for this pan? Car will be driven a lot and raced extremely hard on weekends. I will change the oil about every other month.

Thanks.

AC Delco PF48 or equivalent, the newer pans have a larger diameter threaded nipple.

^^^Exactly.

You need a filter with a 22mm metric thread instead of the smaller diameter standard pitch threads. Try a 2007 6.0 Silverado filter, works for me. ;)

I use the 07 Hummer filter, or Caddy.

Okay. Thanks everyone. I figured it had to be a metric thread. Dang these filters sure are small though.

One thing swappers should do is to make note of where parts come from and a list of part numbers you need.

I ran into this exact thing the other weekend changing my oil. I picked up a filter for an '04 GTO... forgetting I used an H3 pan... If I had of just kept a list of little things like that to my my "parts needed" list it would have saved some trouble.

I found that the '05 6.0L Silverado filter looked pretty small.... but the 2006 Trailblazer filter was taller (more filter area ?) and fit without issue (AC Delco PF61--- Now PF61E). It "may" fit the H3 pan also ???

The part number for the nipple to use the older style filter is 12552357. Lists for around $8 from GM.

Mobil 1 filter...M1-113

Thanks everyone. I am keeping a list. Remember, I haven't run this engine yet so I don't know what works and what doesn't. However, I was told that the H3 pan used a metric thread and had to use something in a 2007 or newer. So shits and giggles I purchased an oil filter for a 2006 silverado and a a2007 silverado. The 1042 did not fit and the 7060 did fit. So it stood true. Thanks for everyones help. I was worried I had stripped threads or something. That would have sucked.
