95 Sonoma - LQ4, 4L80e, 76mm Turbo

I figured i might as well start this thread since i just ordered my motor trans and turbo yesterday.

This may be slow going at first, but bear with me, it will pick up pace when i get going on it.

on to some pictures

And now on to the list of stuff ive done, or have bought in order to fix this truck:

Front and Rear Shocks(Broken air shocks in the back and worn out shocks in the front. Also Rear Mounts had rusted to the point where they had to be replaced)
Rust Repair (cab corners/rocker panels/floor rust/light rusting on the bed)
All Interior wiring has been gone throught to assure that there are no other problems (radio wouldnt turn on/Gauges wouldnt light up/interior lights stayed on when fuse was installed)
Fuel pump and fuel filter (they had black silicone and duct tape holding it to the tank, and cross threaded the first thread on the fittings)
Distributor/Cap/Rotor & Coil(cracked cap, and stripped dist gear)
All engine sensors (everything was pretty gunked up or was rusty looking)
Spark Plugs & wires (pulled out 3 different brands, and 2 with cracked porcelin... also spark plug wires were noticably different)
Front and rear brakes & brake booster (rear brakes had bad wheel cylinders, but the wheel cylinders were clip type and the nes listed for my truck were screw type, so i drilled and tapped the backing plate to accept & fronts were just at the grinding point plus i needed the front rotors for my ls1 brake swap)
Heater Core, Heater Box, Radiator hoses & coolant Flush (heater core and box were cut through with a sawzall and would leak when the car was running. It appeared that they were trying to change it out without removing the dash. Also flushed chunks of DEX-COOL out of the system)Rewired fuel injectors (both were cross wired and duct taped together)
Suede Headliner and sun visor (Sagging)
Fixed Exhaust (the glass pack and 80% of the tubing had rusted out)
Replaced Alternator (died on me last week)
HIDS (because ill be replacing the front end soon, and until then the headlamps were too faded and yellow for normal headlights to really work)
Brake Lamps (old ones literally fell off the truck)
Passenger mirror (was glued together with some foreign substance)
Zq8 Sway Bars,ZQ8 front springs, Power windows, Trans Am Seats, Ls1 Brakes and ZQ8 Steering box, 98 S10 Front End Swap, Ford Explorer rear end (not installed yet)

Also, Sold my t66 to my brother for his mustang...

bought a new turbo

I knew i was going to have problems when i bought the truck, but i got it for $1000, barely running, and have since fixed it to be a daily driver. First thing i did when i got home was pull the side skirts, toneau cover, and interior. since then, I have been fixing the little things i found wrong with it. I sold the body kit, wheels, and toneau cover for 1200, SO Im back in the black with some extra cash.

BODY WORK

After a magnet test, I found where all the body filler was, I sanded that down to bare metal and began fixing the rust they were hiding underneath it (the passenger cab corner was completely gone, It appeared to be there, but was fiberglass and over an inch of bondo)

I am very glad you could sell those things nd still make a profit, cuz $1000 seems a bit high for that condition. what re your plans on paint or re you leaving it that color? You doing a front mount turbo?

Paint its going to either be matador red mica from newer lexus cars, or the blue from newer bmws... although both will have a flat black hood, roof, tailgate, and toneau

The turbo will be rear mount because of space concerns and so it won't be instantly visible when my hood is open

Which BMW blue? They had Laguna Seca blue and Interlagos blue and now they have a new one that's a lot like Interlagos. Looks like she'll be a fun ride.:corn:

I'm not sure what the color is called, I saw it on a 2011 m5 in that color, but I haven't had a chance to look up the color yet... its more of a royal blue than a dark blue... also, I've been thinking of doing a 2 stage color... royal blue metallic first, then black pearl, then clear... it should look black until light hits it, then it'll turn blue:devil:

Got some time to work on the motor again yesterday. Tore the heads off, inspected the spark plugs, and was honestly surprised to see nice clean normal plugs on all 8 cylinders. Pistons look normal... dirty, but normal... then had some time to sand & soda blast some parts.
