At any rate, I've been thinking about an LS9 cam, seems to give 40 to 50 more HP over a stock ls1's.

Anyone else have experience w/ an otherwise stock LS1 w/ LS9 cam and springs?

I am still leaning towards that (the TR224). My reason for limiting to 6500-6800 is due to reliability. While the LS1 'can' be spun higher, I have experienced enough issues with excess 7k shifts. My last LS1 was a solid roller 388 and I don't want to go that route again.

I can't see why it wouldn't work (though probably not ideal). Unless you can get it really cheep.

^AHA! Where old school and new school collided.... Interesting builds them were.

Anyways ya man on the 112 that cam is *** cherry pie on stock LS1 cubes. Just enough zap lost down low so you can actually get decent bite on the street and then comes alive around 3500 tugs hard to 65 shift at 68/7/6 2/3/4 respectively. Launch off limiter hehe

They are cheap, and trying to stay w/ a stock'ish idle. The truck is fast enough, but an extra ~40hp and stock driveabilty for ~$150 total... sure I'll try that. Will be swapping out my axle in the spring/summer then finally doing a dyno run. Then will start w/ the engine mods.

You mention truck. Is this a 5.3l truck? If so, I had good results with the 01 LS6 cam. Paid around $150 for the cam and springs. Just a thought.

Any reason you went with a 114lsa vs 112 or 110? What's your RPM band and shift point?

Was in the car when I bought it. Has a lot of power Down low. It could have more top end but I think the 317 heads are the reason it doesn't puller harder up top. Rev limiter is set at 6500

I noticed you have a 6L, so that could certainly help down low. I wonder how it would perform in a 5.3 or 5.7.... hmmm

Me? I'm still deciding. I'm in parts collection and research mode right now. I have my trans/electronics/accessories/etc. and am waiting on a good deal for the engine.

My goal is to swap in June/July (summer) time-frame as my MBA program and work are taking a lot of time right now.
