CAR WON'T START OR CRANK!!!! Help!!!

So the motor was from an 04 gto and is currently sitting in my nissan 240sx. The car ran fine literally for 18 hours. I was doing a cruise. Well I have no e brake so I leave the car in gear when I park. I was having issues with my clutch/slave I just never got the time to change it. So I parked it at a slight incline put it in gear then 10 min later I came back to it and no crank no turnover or anything!!! The lights turn on the lights get dimmer when I try and start the car. The battery is brand new the alternator is about 2 years old. I also tapped on the starter. And still no crank. Can anyone help me with this? It's really annoying.

Sounds like a bad battery or ground. Check voltages with a multimeter.

Like I said the battery is Literrally 2 weeks old. And I'll check for grounds. It's just weird because everything else turns on in the car. Oh and I checked the battery it was reading 12.34 or something. Also tried jumping the car and nothing changed.

Check your fuses first and ensure you have good grounds.

Bad ignition switch? I just did an ls1 swap into my v6 camaro and the cylinder just happened to shit the bed.

Check all my fuses but not my relays. And not too sure about the ignition switch. Ill be checking my grounds soon.

When you turn the key to on, can you hear your fuel pump? If so, try to roll start the car.

I've already tried all it does is lock my tires up...and slides. I checked to see if the engine was seized but the cranks moves fine....

I don't think I hear clicking. It's hard to hear it because my fan is hooked up to my acc so my fan turns on and it's really loud. I'm pretty sure my fuel pump turns on but my starter doesn't. But I already tapped it pretty hard if I may say. I also think I hit the positive wire because it sparked a little when I slipped.

If the lights dim when you turn the key to start, then the starter is getting power but not spinning. Replace the starter.

Your fans really shouldn't come on immediately, they should be activated based off engine temp, unless you also have a manual override switch.

It's my preference. Especially living I'm Vegas they need to be on. I know not really during winter but I ran it like that last winter

I can but I can also just put my roommates head next to the starter as well hahahah

LS_Junky Dec 2, 2012 09:13 PM

I would check starter relay or wires goin to starter..

flipmike22 Jan 7, 2013 06:19 PM

Found out my wires were rubbing a little too much and a ignition wire was touching a ground so it was grounding before it got to the starter.....
