Did any LQ4s come painted orange from factory? Looking @ j/y 6.0; is it a rebuild?
 

Checking out a j/y 6.0 LQ4 that is in an Express Van w/150k miles, but crawling under it today it was painted orange. So I'm wondering if it has been rebuilt and its actually lower mileage. Did any factory engines come painted orange?

I have worked at the dealer since the ls motors came out
Never seen one anything other than black or aluminum

I'm thinking its been swapped for a rebuild, which should make it lower miles. I may have to pick this up...

Im pretty sure there hasent been an orange engine from gm since around 76 or 77. But im not completely sure of that.

Take a look at the back of the heads. See any heat tabs stuck there?
Commercial rebuilders put them on as a way to enforce warranty.

Definitely a non-original.

Chevy had blue paint on engines in cars into the early 80s.

All factory LS engines I've seen were black or rust colored. Buy it.

Wrecked? I can't see someone putting a rebuild in then junking it.
